Job Description
 
Fluence Product Development organization is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead, inspire, unblock, and optimize the delivery of a development team. The candidate should have techno managerial experience, great people management skills and hands-on technical experience to help the team find process issues and remove bottlenecks to make development efforts more effective. The role demands creating and extending the product features and the software development toolset that form the core of BESS product offering.
 
 
Responsibilities:
        Responsible for all technology components, architecture, solution design, defining standards for development, driving re-use and development of foundational components, drive innovation and associated Infrastructure design and implementation
        Drive decision on technology stack and all software components
        Design and implement for scalability, resilience and performance and other NFRs
        Responsible for working with the Program Manager and vendor partners in estimating, and defining the program delivery plan
        Work with the Product Team, UX designer, BA and PM and finalize the UI design
        Provide technical guidance to team members
        Practical experience in hiring, mentoring, developing engineers and helping team members to set career direction & growth.
        Encourage and empower the team to take ownership of the team’s success
        Enable the team to execute high-velocity software development, support their needs and resolve possible conflicts
        Solve technical challenges by deep diving into the technical details of the challenge along with engineers from the team.
        Define standards and guidelines for coding, code version control, branching, security and vulnerability scans
        Identify projects delivering risks and issues.  Provide options and justifications for mitigations.
        Support and enable continuous refinement of process, structure, and techniques to deliver high quality products.
        Participating in cross-team strategy discussions within the team
        Communicate with leadership regarding progress against plans, issues, and needs
        Work with users and/or product owners to help define application specifications
        Lead the team to follow organizational standards and engineering best practices
        Promote innovation and collaboration across teams.
 
 
Key Skills
 
·        Excellent knowledge of frontend and backend technologies – Nodejs, reactjs, nestjs and various other js frameworks and databases such as MySQL, postgres
·        Prior experience of developing products for Industry 4.0, SCADA systems, Power systems, IOT, Big data. 
·        Experience in developing data visualizations involving large data from systems such as SCADA.
·         Experience with Scrum/Kanban or similar Agile Software Project Management tools (i.e. Github Projects, Jira, Trello)
·        Experience with developing tools for configuration and commissioning industrial systems
·        Ability to identify detailed activities, plan them along with the PM
·        Coordination with key stakeholders
·        Ability to communicate effectively with the stakeholders – internal and external
·        Ability to interact at various levels within the organization
·        Ability to identify and mitigate risks and issues
 
 
Qualifications
        13 – 18 years’ experience in leading design, development and implementation of industrial  Web Applications.
        A bachelor’s or master’s engineering degree in computer science or in similar streams.
        Demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies and distributed software systems
        Experience working with global development partners in a remote environment
        Excellent planning and time management skills with a record of accomplishment of following through on commitment
        Strong verbal and written communication skills
        Willingness to travel to project sites for development and gathering customer requirements
        Technical acumen to deep-dive into challenges and are able to lead technical discussions with technical team members and enable teams to solve problems.
        Experience with both on-premises and cloud-based solutions
