  • Deep knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Knowledge of structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Comfortable reading construction documents.
  • Understand New York food service regulations.
  • Expertise managing third-party vendors.

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced Foodservice Equipment Specialist to help us develop and implement our programs and processes to identify, maintain, and repair our commercial kitchen and expansive pantry equipment, ensuring smooth operations in our cafes and food service spaces. You’ll liaise with the parties involved in designing, building, and managing amenity spaces, including: the food service operators, consultants, architects, engineers, project managers, facilities managers, equipment suppliers, and manufacturers.

You’ll be involved in the design and construction process, from the equipment consultant RFP through punch list and operation. You’ll help ensure that the food service equipment specified meets our program and design requirements. Once the spaces are built, you’ll also manage our maintenance program and partners to maintain operational excellence and sanitation standards.  

This dynamic role bridges technical expertise with food service operations. You'll collaborate across departments to deliver solutions that meet diverse operational and design needs.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Providing data and insight to help make decisions related to the design and construction of our food spaces
  • Ensuring equipment performance specifications and program intent are met by the kitchen consultant and kitchen equipment provider
  • Evaluating requests for new equipment purchases, reviewing equipment cost estimates and budgets, and making recommendations that may result in cost savings
  • Developing strategy for equipment maintenance and data management
  • Being the single point of contact for our equipment service providers
  • Managing food equipment maintenance vendor contracts, including preventative maintenance, and inventory of equipment and spare parts
  • Tracking all equipment issues and working with the team to bring them to closure
  • Working cross-functionally to coordinate equipment deliveries, inspection, installations, and commissioning with the appropriate teams
  • Working with the caterer and engineering facilities team to ensure our physical spaces meet safety and sanitation requirements

About You

  • Preferably have 6-9 years of working in the facilities and food services industry and a deep knowledge of commercial kitchen and pantry equipment specification, operation, and maintenance
  • Have practical knowledge of structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems specific to food service environments
  • Comfortable reading construction documents and equipment specifications
  • Able to “speak the language” of architects, food service consultants, and trades
  • Understand New York food service Department of Health codes and regulations
  • Have expertise managing third-party vendors and service partners
  • Have a strong professional network in the hospitality industry
  • Courteous, reliable, and flexible team player who can work occasional early morning and evening hours
  • Critical thinker with the ability to speak comfortably in a large group
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator
  • Results-oriented with a hands-on approach
