Role overview

As a Game Tester / Functionality QA Tester, you'll play pre-release and live video games on all current platforms (including PC, consoles, and mobile devices) to find and document bugs, glitches, and other issues. You'll report these issues and follow up on them, working closely with game developers to fix any problems, making sure together that the games are polished and ready for players to enjoy. What are we looking for? Our FQA Tester has a knack for the following skills:

Business

  • Ensure games meet industry standards, including content rating requirements and platform-specific guidelines.
  • Follow predefined test cases and test plans, as well as create and execute new test scenarios as needed.

Leadership

  • Thoroughly document and report any defects or anomalies encountered during gameplay using bug tracking software, including clear and concise descriptions, steps to reproduce, and screenshots or videos as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other testers to assess the functionality and balance of multiplayer components in games.

Analytics

  • Evaluate game performance, including frame rate, load times, and system resource usage.
  • Verify that reported issues have been resolved by retesting games after patches or updates.

Communication

  • Provide constructive feedback on gameplay mechanics, user interface, and overall player experience to assist in game improvement.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with the development team, reporting issues promptly and participating in discussions to resolve them.

Requirements

You'd be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • A deep love for video games and a strong understanding of various game genres
  • Keen observation skills and the ability to identify even minor issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for reporting and discussing issues with the development team
  • Basic knowledge of gaming platforms (PC, consoles, mobile) and familiarity with bug tracking software
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and adhering to a flexible work schedule
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as project needs dictate
  • The ability to perform repetitive tasks and endure long play sessions when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with age and legal restrictions for testing games with specific content ratings
  • Prior experience in game testing, quality assurance, or beta testing is advantageous but not necessarily required
  • A degree or coursework in a related field (e.g., game design, computer science, quality assurance) would be a plus
  • 1-2 years professional experience as a Game Tester / FQA Tester

Phases of our recruitment journey:

  • After reviewing your candidacy, - we’ll invite you for the online Interview via MS Teams with one of our Talent Acquisition Specialists. It’s a perfect chance to exchange questions and get to know each other better.
  • If you pass the initial interview, we'll have the hiring manager review your profile and see from there if you'll get an invite for a final interview.
  • If you pass the final interview, we'll invite you to take our online assessment (FQA) to better evaluate your relevant skills and your knack. Our test will require typing and uploading your work, so we would encourage you to take it on a computer. Check your inbox to find the test invitation and keep your phone close!
  • Once you submit your test, the assessment will take approximately 48-72 hours to be evaluated.
  • If you successfully pass the test, we'll proceed to the job offer stage and hopefully we come to a mutual agreement.
  • At the end of our journey - hopefully you will receive an offer and become our new Keywordian!
