The Illustration Manager at Disney Publishing oversees and creates illustrations, layouts, clean-up, and paints for film/TV tie-ins and franchise extensions. This role involves collaborating with artists, editors, and designers to ensure project synchronization. The manager art directs freelance artists, manages asset delivery schedules, and handles contracts/invoicing. Attendance at review meetings with internal staff and filmmakers is also required. The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of two years of professional experience in digital illustration, expertise in Photoshop, and the ability to manage multiple freelance artists.

The Illustration Manager oversees the creation of and creates layouts, clean-up, and paints for various film and TV tie-in programs as well as franchise extensions.

You will report to the Director- Art

This is a Full-Time role.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee the creation of and create layouts, clean-up and paints for various film and TV tie-in programs as well as franchise extensions.

  • Collaborate with staff artists as well as staff editors and designers to ensure all aspects of title development are in synch.

  • Manage and art direct outside freelance artists and revise commissioned work as needed to meet asset delivery requirements.

  • Manage art asset delivery schedules and ensure that contract requests and invoicing are managed properly.

  • Attend review meetings with internal staff and or filmmakers as necessary.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in digital illustration.

  • The ability to create illustrations in various styles.

  • The ability to manage outside freelance artists on various projects simultaneously.

  • Expertise in Photoshop

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in illustration, fine art, or other creative discipline or equivalent experience.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $71,000 to $95,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
