As the IT Domain Specialist, your role is key in improving the stability and reliability of our cloud offerings and solutions to ensure continuity of service for our customers. Focus of the Role
As the IT Service Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for the operational health, deployment, and continuous improvement of applications within the Assurance stack. This role blends application support and operational engineering, ensuring high availability, proactive issue management, and efficient delivery across development, testing, and production environments.

What You’ll Do
Product & Technology - Software Engineering & IT develops and maintains Telstra's software and IT systems, working on some really cutting-edge technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of our systems.
• Design, implement, and manage scalable and automated solutions for infrastructure and application monitoring.
• Participate in on-call rotation to provide timely response and resolution to production incidents.
• Conduct post-incident reviews and contribute to incident documentation.
• Lead and facilitate problem management processes to identify, analyze, and resolve recurring incidents.
• Work closely with development and operations teams to address root causes and implement preventive measures.
• Solid experience in using Incident management tools like BMC Remedy
• Develop and maintain monitoring solutions to proactively identify potential issues before they impact the production environment.
• Utilize data analytics to identify trends and patterns for continuous improvement.
• Implement automation tools and frameworks to streamline repetitive tasks and enhance system reliability.
• Utilize tools such as Java, SRE, New Relic, Splunk, AWS knowledge, and scripting languages like Perl, Python, Ruby, VBScript, and PowerShell to perform operations triage and automate tasks.
About You
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related engineering degree
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in telecom Service Assurance stack.
• Java, Nodejs, microservices, NoSQL
• AWS EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, ECS, EKS, SQS, Kinesis
• Proven experience in problem management and incident triage.
• Strong knowledge of ITIL, SRE Practices
• Programming experience in java, python or any other scripting languages
• Experience working with AWS or similar cloud platforms
• Implementation experience of observability tooling (setup dashboards, write queries) – eg. New Relic, Splunk
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication and coordination abilities.
Desirable Skills:
• Experience in implementing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
• Power BI: Familiarity with Power BI for data visualization and analysis.
• Microservices / API: Knowledge of microservices architecture and API design.
• Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs) / Declarative SQL: Understanding of OOPs concepts and declarative SQL for data manipulation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of XML, JSON and other data interchange formats.
• Knowledge of Java, HTML5, JQuery and other web technologies.
• Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills
