Job Description
The Lead Release Engineer at Google Play will contribute to building, automating, and visualizing release processes and diagnostic tools. This role involves collaborating with Technical Program Managers, Software Engineers, and Site Reliability Engineers to design and implement scalable build and release infrastructure. Troubleshooting build and release infrastructure failures, implementing solutions, and ensuring reliability and repeatability are key responsibilities. The engineer will also identify areas for improvement and automation within the release infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience in CI/CD, release management, and software development lifecycle, along with proficiency in languages like Java, Python, or Bash.
Must have:
- CI/CD experience
- Release management expertise
- Troubleshooting skills
- Software development lifecycle knowledge
- Build and release infrastructure design and implementation
- Collaboration with engineering teams
Good to have:
- Java, Python, Bash coding experience
- Risk management experience
- DevOps experience
- Jenkins experience

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Deployment (CD) source management.
- 2 years of experience with release management in one or more programming languages.
- Experience in release processes and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Software Development Lifecycle.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience coding with languages like Java, Python, Bash.
- Experience in Risk Management.
- Experience with Developer Operations.
- Experience with Jenkins.

- Troubleshoot failures with our build release infrastructure, implement solutions, and make it reliable and repeatable.
- Identify areas of improvements and automation in our release infrastructure.
