Job Description

The Lead UI/UX Designer at Skydance Interactive will spearhead the development of UI/UX designs for their VR games. This role involves creating wireframes, prototypes, and interactive mock-ups, conducting user research, and integrating feedback to refine designs. The successful candidate will lead and mentor a team of UI/UX designers, establish efficient workflows, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include developing UI/UX specifications and style guides, staying current with industry trends, and working with designers to integrate assets into Unreal Engine. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of game development experience with at least 2 years managing a team and a strong portfolio showcasing UI/UX designs for various platforms.

The Lead UI/UX Designer will help define the way players experience our game.

Job Requirements

    • Design Leadership
    • Spearhead and champion the development of UI/UX designs for our games.
    • Develop and maintain UI/UX specifications and style guides.
    • Develop wireframes, prototypes and interactive mock-ups to visualize design concepts.
    • Lead/conduct user research and usability testing to meet our product goals while understanding player needs and preferences.
    • Gather and integrate feedback from playtests and stakeholders to refine design.
    • Create and maintain design documentation, style guides, and design specifications for the development team.
    • Stay up to date with the latest UI/UX trends and best practices in the game industry.

    • Team Management
    • Lead a team to create intuitive and engaging user interfaces for a game product.
    • Lead and mentor UI/UX designers (internal and external) through the complete development cycle, collaborating with production and design leadership.
    • Work with UI/UX designers to integrate assets into Unreal.
    • Establish and maintain efficient and easy-to-understand workflows for the UI/UX team.
    • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure that team members have the resources and support they need to succeed.

Qualifications

    • 8+ years of games development experience with 2+ years managing a team.
    • Must have strong portfolio showing UI/UX designs for multiple shipped games for a variety of platforms.
    • Experience in Unreal Engine.
    • Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively.
    • A deep understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.
The salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $125,000 – $150,000.  The salary offered may vary based on the candidate’s location, qualifications, experience and relevant expertise, among other factors.  The range indicated is for base salary only and does not reflect the total compensation package, including bonus, benefits, etc.

About Skydance Interactive

About Animation

Luck, directed by Alessandro Carloni (Kung Fu Panda 3) and written by Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger, is a comedy that pulls back the curtain on the millennia-old battle between the organizations of good luck and bad luck that secretly affects our daily lives. Split, directed by Vicky Jenson (Shrek) and written by Linda Woolverton, tells the story of Elian, a teenager who comes of age using her magical powers to defend her family when the opposing forces of light and darkness threaten to divide her kingdom.
