Job Function Description:
- As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and mentor a team of engineers, particularly those working with ColdFusion, modern front-end frameworks, and robust security practices. You will provide technical and strategic guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, emphasizing innovation, security, and performance optimization. Your leadership will drive the team to meet market demands efficiently while maintaining high code quality and fostering a collaborative environment.
You will be responsible for:
- Strong Technical Focus and Leadership: Dive into complex technical issues, particularly within ColdFusion and modern front-end technologies (React, Angular), guiding the team through challenging problems.
- Service Ownership and Development Best Practices: Take charge of maintaining and operating our team’s services, implementing development best practices to foster the production of high-quality, well-architected, and sustainable code.
- Cross-Training and Feature Balance: Foster cross-training initiatives and maintain a healthy equilibrium between feature development and technical enhancements.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to engineers emphasizing critical skills in ColdFusion, front-end technologies, and security practices.
- Conduct regular performance reviews to assess and support engineers’ growth and development.
- Manage career development plans, ensuring alignment with individual and company goals.
- Commercial Insight and Stakeholder Communication: Utilize your interpersonal skills and commercial acumen to ensure team members understand the impact of their work on product delivery. Also, provide estimates for delivery to stakeholders.
- Vision Alignment and Strategic Clarity: Clarify the team's vision, mission, and strategy, ensuring alignment with company objectives to avoid wasted efforts.
- Collaboration with Product Owner: Collaborate closely with the Product Owner to comprehend and contribute to the product roadmap.
- Agile Methodologies and Continuous Value Delivery: Employ Agile methodologies with the assistance of the Scrum Master to continuously deliver value to customers.
- Cultivate a Culture of Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement through retrospection, encouraging the team to reflect on past experiences and strive for ongoing enhancement.
- Develop detailed project plans outlining key milestones, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Ensure transparency by providing detailed reports on initiative status, including metrics, timelines, and any deviations from the plan.
- Provide feedback and input to VP and CTO to align initiatives with overall company strategy and vision.
