This role requires managing approximately $75 million in operating expenses, supporting capital planning through CAR submissions, and collaborating with various teams. The Manager will also prepare post-event flash reports, analyze key expenses, and provide financial support to operational teams.

Who are we hiring?

The Manager Finance will be responsible for Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) functions supporting Sphere Venue Operations, as well as Food, Beverage, Merchandise, and Office Services. Key responsibilities include preparing the annual budget, conducting monthly forecasts, and performing month-end reporting and analysis for both operating and capital expenses. The Manager Finance will work closely with the teams in each respective area to ensure all material variances are known and reported in a monthly management reporting package.

What will you do?

  • Prepare the annual budget and monthly forecasts for Venue Operations and Office Services.
  • Manage approximately $75 million in operating expenses, including rent, property taxes, utilities, labor, repairs and maintenance, and other non-labor expenses.
  • Support capital planning by preparing and submitting Capital Appropriation Request (CAR) forms and tracking capital spending on projects.
  • Assist the Accounting team with accruals, reclassifications, and other needs during the month-end close process.
  • Prepare post-event flash reports for food, beverage, and merchandise, including data on product, quantity, sales, and ad hoc analyses, along with weekly year-to-date revenue reporting against the budget.
  • Prepare month-end variance analysis reports and present results to the General Manager, Vice President, and department heads.
  • Analyze and maintain monthly tracking files for key expenses such as labor, utilities, taxes, capital expenditures, licenses, and permits.
  • Provide support to the Operations teams with financial requests, including ad hoc analyses, purchase order approvals, and expense coding.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Undergraduate degree in Business/Accounting/Finance or related field, MBA is a plus.
  • 4+ years’ experience in Finance or Accounting, ideally focused on financial analysis and budgeting within the Entertainment or Sports industry.
  • Expertise in facilities finance including union and part-time labor, rent and property taxes, utilities, and repairs and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in systems and software currently utilized by MSG, including Excel, Oracle GL, Oracle Planning (Hyperion), and Tableau.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and open to learning new ways of working.
  • Ability to embrace change with a flexible mindset, even if the way forward isn’t clear.
  • Ability to work independently to trouble shoot and problem solve.
  • Ability to be a reliable team member, capable of effective collaboration to achieve our shared goals across teams and departments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and relay technical information in a concise manner, tailoring the message based on the purpose, audience, and channel.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with all customers (internal and external).

Pay Range
$83,000$145,000 USD
