The position involves reviewing, analyzing, and integrating terms from Motion Picture and Television Acquisition Agreements into the Rights Management Database. Key responsibilities include abstracting Rights-In Output Deals, entering data from Acquisition Agreements, liaising with the Motion Picture Group on holdback requirements, reviewing documents for derivative status, and copyright lookups. The role demands a combination of legal expertise and data analysis skills. The candidate must be able to read and dissect legal contracts, proficiently and accurately enter data into databases, and possess strong communication skills.

Must have:

Comfortable reading and dissecting legal contracts.
Proficient in database/systems and data entry.
Proficient in Excel.
Fast learner with attention to detail.
Strong communication skills.

Good to have:

Rights Management or Entertainment Distribution experience.
Law Degree or Paralegal Certificate/Experience.
Air Table Experience or other database applications.

Summary of Position

Lionsgate is seeking a candidate to assist in the fast-paced Rights Management area of our Business and Legal Affairs Department. The primary focus of this position is to review, dissect and assimilate Motion Picture and/or Television Acquisition Agreements for key terms relating to Distribution Rights and entry into our Rights Management Database. This position requires an individual who possesses a unique blend of legal acumen and data analysis.

Responsibilities

Review and Abstract Rights-In Output Deals
Review and enter all non-TV product Acquisition Agreements
Enter in all Feature Productions
Liaise with the Company’s Motion Picture Group on holdback requirements
Review documents for cursory determination of the status of derivatives
Copyright look up and review
Redact Agreements as needed
Ad hoc special projects as needed

Qualifications and Skills

Must be comfortable reading and dissecting legal contracts
Database/Systems – must be able to quickly, proficiently and accurately enter data
Must be proficient in Excel
Fast and willing learner who is able to handle a volume of data and maintain attention to detail
Strong communication skills

Nice to Haves

Rights Management or Entertainment Distribution experience
Law Degree or Paralegal Certificate/Experience
Air Table Experience or other database applications
