Job Description

As a Product Owner at FundamentalVR, you will lead the vision and development of medical VR training simulations. Collaborate with engineers, artists, medical professionals, and designers to create realistic, immersive content. Responsibilities include overseeing development stages, managing stakeholder expectations, prioritizing user stories, and ensuring alignment with business strategy. You'll act as the primary communication link between stakeholders and the development team, driving a value-focused product development process. You will devise roadmaps and prioritize plans, mitigating project risks, and advocating for best practices within an agile framework. A deep understanding of VR development, MedTech, and UX/Instructional design is crucial.

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic professional to join our team, taking on responsibility for developing and leading the vision and development for our medical VR training simulations. You will work closely with  the development team of engineers, artists, medical, educational and UI/UX designers to produce realistic, immersive, valuable content. You will enjoy the support of your colleagues and our open culture, where what we learn from our failures is as important as our successes.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee all stages of development across engineering, design and art, whilst also collaborating with peers to ensure a consistent FVR product
  • Listen to what the stakeholders want and establish what they need
  • Own the vision & goals of the product and mimic the main user of the product
  • Work with client success manager (CSM) to understand and balance stakeholder priorities along with the needs of the business and manage expectations accordingly
  • Develop and nurture shared understanding of the vision within the development team, to avoid out of sync situations
  • Assess value and prioritise user stories and acceptance criteria to ensure delivery of maximum value and alignment with the wider business product strategy
  • Be the primary information broker managing lines of communication between stakeholders and development team
  • Be familiar with UX for Instructional design and consult on the product’s core design to align it with stakeholder requirements
  • Work collaboratively with the development team to produce a value focussed, rather than feature focussed, product, whilst being diligent about feature creep
  • Devise and communicate roadmaps, backlog strategies and prioritisation plans so as to provide clear direction for the team and visibility for internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify, raise, track and mitigate risks to the projects and successful completion of sprint goals and releases
  • Follow and advocate the use of best practices e.g. Stages and Gates, coding standards, bug triaging, Scrum ceremonies etc.
  • Understand the product’s position in the market in which it will be used, including current and future alternatives and competitive products

Requirements

What We Are Looking For

  • Demonstrable experience as a Product Owner/Producer/Lead Designer/Software Architect
  • Experience of successful delivery of products under Waterfall, PRINCE2 (Stages and Gates) and Agile frameworks
  • Well versed with managing budgets, balancing expectations and aligning workloads
  • Well versed with 3D development pipelines and Unity Engine
  • Previous experience of VR development, its challenges and limitations
  • Degree in Science, Engineering or similar relevant field
  • Deep inclination for research and learning in MedTech
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, and a great attention to detail
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills, a creative thinker with a vision
