Job Description:

A Rigging Artist is required create the skeletal frameworks for a broad range of rigging applications on characters, creatures, vehicles, and variety of props that need to be animated in TV and Games.

Besides bringing characters to life, a Rigging Artist should also have some experience in creating and customizing rigs for 3D animation and visual effects. Also, a Rigging Artist should have basic scripting knowledge and ideally be able to demonstrate a wider range of knowledge on the CG character development (modeling & animation) and high-end CG production (lighting & rendering).


Job responsibilities:


  • Able to create 3D rigs for different types of characters, animals, vehicles, and props for team lead / supervisor’s approval on a daily’s basis
  • Able to create facial target modeling
  • Able to meet the project requirements and quality
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Effectively communicate issues regarding their shots and seek advises from seniors and team lead
  • Actively seek information to get a clear understanding upon receiving feedback from the seniors and team lead
  • Able to QC own works
  • Able to work independently

 

Job Requirements:


  • 1-3 years of experience rigging CG characters for film production, animation TV series or visual effects
  • Strong knowledge of Maya, with an understanding of the dependency graph, utility nodes, and the use of expressions
  • Basic knowledge of rigging systems, deformation, CG rigging tools, technique, and principles
  • Good understanding of the human anatomy, body movement and body mechanics
  • Good understanding of the principles of animation. Must be able to think like an animator when considering how rigs will move or deform
  • Basic knowledge of scripting in Python, C++ and MEL will be a plus
  • Attention to details
  • Good knowledge of directory structure, file formats, naming conventions and automation tools
  • Good communication skills, able to take direction positively
  • Ability to work in a team with no conflicts
  • Eager to learn and willing to accept new opportunities and challenges
