About the team Risk control team is responsible for performing risk identification and assessing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls across ByteDance global functions. The team's mission is to be a trusted advisor and add tangible value to the company through insightful and comprehensive risk management practices and proactive internal controls advisory support. We are looking for a qualified, motivated and entrepreneurial Risk Control Business Partner. This position is based in our Los Angeles office and will be supporting Global Products offered by ByteDance. The new hire will be responsible for risk identification and assessing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls. The new hire will collaborate with business teams to identify risks, conduct root cause analysis, identify control gaps, quantify impact leveraging on available data, and ultimately make valuable recommendations to management. Responsibilities: Responsible for designing and evaluating the adequacy of internal controls in place to mitigate key risks, key activities include: 1. Lead global projects to review policies, define processes, identify risks, controls, and opportunities for enhancement across business units. Provide control guidance during business process changes and contribute to company-wide initiatives, and support risk management activities. 2. Drive insights-driven risk work within the Risk Control team through developing, implementing and monitoring business data to promptly identify and address risks, as well as to drive process improvements, and support continuous risk monitoring implementation with data analytics. 3. Foster and maintain relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure respective key risks in the business are adequately addressed and to facilitate improvements in its control environment. 4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including all three lines of defence, for in-depth data-driven risk advisory support, process enhancement initiatives, and root cause analysis for fraud prevention. 5. Drive a risk-aware culture in the spirit of continuous improvement through proactively engaging with senior stakeholders and key cross-functional partners. Stay abreast of emerging technology, industry trends, and cutting-edge risks.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree or above in relevant discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Data Analytics, Auditing, or Related Field) required. 2. 3+ years of internal controls, risk management, consulting, business process improvement and/or internal audit experience. E-commerce, media, tech or entertainment companies are preferred. 3. Project management skills (planning, fieldwork, documentation, remediation, etc.) to support execution of Risk Control initiatives. 4. Support the prioritisation and management of ongoing projects, stakeholders, team capacity, business requests, and incidents. 5. Experience being a trusted and valuable risk business partner to a variety of cross-functional stakeholders, demonstrating strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to drive action in the midst of ambiguous situations. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Ability to rapidly understand and identify enhancements and improvements to unfamiliar business processes with minimal background information, including the ability to formally document processes and related risks/controls/enhancements within flowcharts or process narratives. 2. Truly passionate about working on large and complex data sets to unravel actionable insights, drive discussions and solve challenging problems in a new and rapidly growing space. 3. Excellent structured thinking, data analysis skills, and cross-organizational communication and collaboration abilities. 4. Able to think and work independently in a flexible team environment and handle multiple assignments simultaneously. 5. Working experience across countries and regions is preferred. 6. Able to complete reports and communicate with global staff and senior leadership independently. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $67000 - $130000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
