Job Description

The Senior Copywriter will be responsible for developing creative ideas for existing clients and new business pitches. You will be skilled in understanding the client’s business objectives and translating them into strategically sound creative ideas. You will work closely with an Art Director and Creative Director to see ideas through to execution across various mediums like experiential, PR, and content. The role requires a fast-paced environment, where creativity and the ability to manage multiple projects are essential. This position fully supports Obsidianworks, a culture-powered marketing agency co-founded by Michael B. Jordan and Chad Easterling.
Must have:
  • 6+ years of Copywriting experience.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Creative portfolio with work samples.
  • BA/BFA in creative writing or equivalent.
  • A natural curiosity for the unique.
  • Ability to think strategically.

Together with 160over90, the agency works with brand and talent partners to identify opportunities, create, and execute innovative and culturally resonant campaigns and activations, and connect with multicultural consumers in diverse communities.  

  

This role will fully support Obsidianworks. 

The Role and What You’ll Do:  

  

The environment here is fast paced. We’re looking for a bilingual Senior Copywriter responsible for concepting and developing creative ideas across existing clients and new business pitches. The Senior Copywriter will be skilled in learning the client’s business objectives and accomplishing those through strategically sound creative ideas that put our clients in the epicenter of culture. You will see through to execution in partnership with your Art Director counterpart and with close mentorship by your Creative Director. You will be a thinker and a maker on projects ranging from experiential to PR to content. The opportunities here are endless, so your creativity must be too.  

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Play a hands-on role in the delivery of outstanding work and results.
  • Leader: Demonstrate an ability to lead a project and present work to clients.
  • Mentor: Team building skills, proactively seeking opportunities to develop team members.
  • Collaboration: Able to partner within a cross-disciplinary team of strategists, project managers, and an account team to ensure creative work is fresh, culturally relevant, and solves client business needs.
  • Craft: Able to develop many exceptional concepts for various advertising mediums. Able to craft copy in a variety of voices. 
  • Love the details: Work within the client's established brand guidelines, appraise and edit your work, and ensure consistency and efficacy of copy throughout all creative. 
  • Organization: Able to self-manage multiple projects and tight timelines. 
  • Curiosity: Stay consistently relevant and up-to-date on all marketing trends and culture to bring fresh ideas and share them with peers and the broader team. 
  • Adaptability: Be open to feedback and be able to apply the feedback to your work.  
  • Dependability: Consistently meet deadlines. 
  • Attitude: The job is difficult, so we need solution-oriented people who lift others—someone who puts the team above the individual and can navigate ambiguity.  

Education & Skills: 

  • 6+ years of Copywriting experience within an ad/branding or digital agency or similar setting 
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) or experience working on Spanish-language campaign preferred
  • Must be able to work autonomously – taking ownership of your workload and juggling several projects at once.
  • Creative Portfolio with samples of work. 
  • BA/BFA in creative writing or equivalent field. 
  • Be fearless and not afraid to fail.  
  • A natural curiosity for the unique, the buzz-worthy, and the culturally relevant with a willingness to push forward brave, new ideas 
  • The optimism to think bigger, the curiosity to dig deeper, and the passion to do better on every project.  
  • Ability to think strategically, conceptualize, and see ideas through to polished execution 
  • Demonstrate the ability to craft and apply a brand voice across a campaign.
  • The ability to adapt to new ideas, processes, and business problems with ease and enthusiasm 
  • A professional attitude and an openness to feedback that commands the respect of supervisors and colleagues 
  • Eagle eye attention to detail 
  • Mastery of Office 365, working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong work ethic

Per local requirements and in the interest of transparency, the range shown below reflects the prevalent current hiring range for this position. Hiring pay rates are based on a number of factors, including location and may vary depending on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience. The company strives to provide locally competitive rewards packages, which include base rate along with, as applicable, short- and long-term incentives, growth and developmental opportunities, and robust benefits, such as health care, retirement, vacation and other paid time off, and additional offerings.


Hiring Range Minimum:

$82,500 annually

Hiring Range Maximum:

$110,000 annually
