As a Senior Mechanical Technician, you will meticulously assemble satellites based on detailed engineering drawings and procedures. Your responsibilities include assembling satellite subsystems, conducting inspections, adhering to quality standards, documenting activities, assembling mechanical ground support equipment, training junior technicians, participating in process improvement, maintaining a clean work environment, and collaborating with team members. You will play a key role in the successful production of high-quality spacecraft. Orbitworks' mission is to make space simple for organizations that want to deploy physical and virtual missions to space. Building on Loft Orbital's heritage, Orbitworks will be the first commercial firm in the United Arab Emirates to mass-manufacture satellites. Orbitworks aims to manufacture tens of satellites annually and operates out of a 50,000-square-foot facility in Abu Dhabi.
Must have:
  • Diploma or Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in precision mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles and techniques.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and assembly equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality and safety.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Technician to join our growing team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the meticulous assembly of satellites according to detailed engineering drawings and procedures. You will be a key contributor to the successful production of high-quality spacecraft.

About this Role:

    • Perform all phases of satellite assembly, including: Precisely assemble satellite subsystems (e.g., structures, mechanisms, thermal control) using various hand tools and specialized equipment.
    • Conduct thorough inspections and quality checks at each stage of the assembly process.
    • Adhere strictly to engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality control standards.
    • Document all assembly activities and deviations accurately.
    • Assemble and validate mechanical ground support equipment (GSE) to ensure proper functioning and compatibility with satellite hardware.
    • Provide hands-on training and guidance to junior technicians, fostering their professional development.
    • Actively participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to the optimization of assembly procedures.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve minor assembly issues effectively.
    • Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and other team members to ensure successful project completion.

Must Haves:

    • Diploma or Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
    • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in precision mechanical assembly, preferably in the aerospace or a related high-tech industry.
    • Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and schematics.
    • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, tolerances, and fitting techniques.
    • Excellent manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
    • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized assembly equipment.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to 1 work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.  
    • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality and safety.
