Job Description

As a Senior Security Engineer at Waze, you'll be responsible for defining and advocating security best practices, developing and enforcing technical standards, and proactively mitigating vulnerabilities across Waze's infrastructure. Key responsibilities include contributing to incident response and vulnerability management, automating security infrastructure, advising developers on secure development practices, and conducting security design and implementation reviews. The role requires expertise in security protocols, attack analysis, mitigation strategies, secure network design, and web application security, along with strong coding skills and team leadership experience. You will work closely with the Facilities Management team to ensure the security of Waze's offices and operations.
Must have:
  • 5+ years security engineering experience
  • 5+ years security assessment/design review experience
  • 5+ years coding experience
  • 1+ year team leadership/risk analysis experience
  • Incident response & vulnerability management
  • Secure development best practices
  • Security design & implementation reviews
Good to have:
  • Penetration testing experience
  • Cloud-native software and orchestration experience (Kubernetes, serverless)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in security engineering, in areas related to security protocols, attack analysis, mitigation strategies, secure network design, operating system hardening, or web application security.
  • 5 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
  • 5 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
  • 1 year of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in leading and conducting security reviews, pen testing, vulnerability analysis, finding or fixing security issues, etc.
  • Experience in breaking (finding bugs, attacking systems, etc) and building (engineering solutions, addressing root causes, etc).
  • Experience in cloud-native software and orchestration stacks, such as serverless architectures, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Ability to learn and work with a broad range of tech stacks, including Cloud-native architectures.
  • Understanding of threat modeling and risk-based security assessments

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Contribute to incident response and vulnerability management, through activities such as vulnerability identification and triage, remediation guidance, and digital forensics.
