This Senior Software Engineer, AI/ML role at Google involves designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions. You will provide technical leadership on high-impact projects, managing priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Responsibilities include facilitating alignment across teams, influencing and coaching engineers, driving technical project strategy, optimizing ML infrastructure, and overseeing solutions across multiple ML areas. The role requires experience with ML algorithms and tools (e.g., TensorFlow), data structures/algorithms, and leading ML design and infrastructure optimization. You'll work on industry-scale ML projects, deploying and evaluating models, processing data, debugging, and fine-tuning solutions. The candidate must have experience with software development and machine learning algorithms and tools.
Must have:
  • 5+ years software development experience
  • 3+ years leading ML projects
  • 3+ years ML algorithm/tool experience
  • Experience with TensorFlow
  • Data structures/algorithms expertise
  • Large-scale ML infrastructure optimization
  • Model deployment and evaluation
Good to have:
  • Master's or PhD in related field
  • Experience in a complex organization
  • Cross-functional project experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and optimizing industry-scale Machine Learning (ML) infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
  • 3 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g. TensorFlow), or applied ML (e.g., deep learning, natural language processing, content understanding, rare-event classification, Large Language Model).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
