Job Description
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Identity team at Attentive, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing high-scale systems. You will work on resolving customer identities accurately across various data sources. Your responsibilities will also include developing advanced session enrichment capabilities, extending core algorithms, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to create flexible identity models. You will continuously monitor and improve the accuracy and scalability of the identity resolution systems. The role involves processing billions of events daily to ensure stability and performance while driving identity capture and accuracy.
Must have:

Our Identity team ensures that all the data Attentive captures across multiple sources is associated with the right person, critical to all downstream messaging and personalization. We use multiple strategies to maintain a robust Identity graph and are constantly experimenting to drive our capture and accuracy rates higher.
As a Senior Software Engineer on our Identity team, you will own and improve a critical system that processes billions of events per day, ensuring its stability and performance as we layer on additional identification strategies and guardrails. At the same time, you will contribute to multiple experiments to drive our identity capture and accuracy higher across the stack, working alongside our frontend engineers or delivering solutions for our data scientists. You will work closely with Product, Data Science, and Analytics.
What You’ll Accomplish
- Design, build, and optimize high-scale systems that accurately resolve fragmented customer identities across first-party and third-party data sources
- Develop advanced session enrichment capabilities to enhance anonymous and known user tracking, improving attribution and personalization
- Extend core algorithms that power real-time identity stitching and device graphing
- Collaborate cross-functionally with data science, product, and analytics teams to create flexible identity models that support a wide range of business use cases
- Continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve the accuracy, speed, and scalability of our identity resolution and tracking systems
Your Expertise
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development
- Experience maintaining high-scale, real-time data processing systems
- Strong communication skills and a product-oriented mindset — able to understand the “what” and “why” behind technical work, collaborate effectively with Product and Analytics teams, and translate business needs into scalable solutions
Nice to Haves
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, experiment-driven environment where priorities shift and learning quickly is key
- Familiarity with frontend browser technologies such as cookie lifecycles and common analytics or fingerprinting libraries
- Experience with analytics or working with data pipelines and analytics infrastructure, such as Spark jobs, and supporting downstream analytics use cases
- Experience working with Java / Spring, streaming technologies such as Pulsar AWS infrastructure
What We Use
- Our infrastructure runs primarily in Kubernetes hosted in AWS’s EKS
- Infrastructure tooling includes Istio, Datadog, Terraform, CloudFlare, and Helm
- Our backend is Java / Spring Boot microservices, built with Gradle, coupled with things like DynamoDB, Kinesis, AirFlow, Postgres, Planetscale, and Redis, hosted via AWS
- Our frontend is built with React and TypeScript, and uses best practices like GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright
- Our automation is driven by custom and open source machine learning models, lots of data and built with Python, Metaflow, HuggingFace 🤗, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas

- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $170,400 - $230,000 annually + equity + benefits
- Equity is a substantial part of the total compensation package
- Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location
