Skydance Interactive seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Tools to design, implement, and maintain robust tools and pipelines for Unreal Engine 5 projects. The role involves close collaboration with artists, designers, and engineers to optimize workflows and solve development challenges. Responsibilities include developing custom UE5 tools and plugins using C++, Python, and Blueprints, automating tasks, identifying performance bottlenecks, and providing guidance to other engineers. The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of experience building tools for game development, strong UE5 proficiency, and excellent communication skills.

Skydance is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer,  Tools to join our team and contribute to the development of multiple projects using Unreal Engine 5. We are looking for a passionate individual who can design, implement, and maintain robust tools and pipelines to empower our development teams and optimize workflows. You will work closely with artists, designers, and other engineers to understand their needs and deliver custom solutions.

Requirements

    • Develop and maintain custom tools and plugins for UE5 that optimize and/or supplement our development process.
    • Utilize C++, Python, Blueprints, and other scripting languages to automate tasks and extend the functionality of UE5.
    • Work closely with artists, designers, and programmers to understand their needs and develop effective solutions.
    • Identify and address performance bottlenecks and stability issues in the development pipeline and tools.

Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience developing and building tools for game development
    • Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine 5: Extensive experience with the engine's features, tools, and architecture.
    • Proficiency in C++ and scripting languages such as Python and Blueprints.
    • Experience providing feedback and guidance to other engineers - helping them stay on track and true to the overall vision of the game.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Experience working with internal and external development teams/partners.
The salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $150,000 – $170,000.  The salary offered may vary based on the candidate’s location, qualifications, experience and relevant expertise, among other factors.  The range indicated is for base salary only and does not reflect the total compensation package, including bonus, benefits, etc.

About Skydance Interactive

About Animation

Luck, directed by Alessandro Carloni (Kung Fu Panda 3) and written by Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger, is a comedy that pulls back the curtain on the millennia-old battle between the organizations of good luck and bad luck that secretly affects our daily lives. Split, directed by Vicky Jenson (Shrek) and written by Linda Woolverton, tells the story of Elian, a teenager who comes of age using her magical powers to defend her family when the opposing forces of light and darkness threaten to divide her kingdom. Nathan Greno (Tangled) is set to direct Powerless. The studio is located in Los Angeles, CA.
