Job Description

LightSpeed Japan Studio, led by industry veteran Hideaki Itsuno, is a game development studio focused on creating original AAA action game titles for global audiences, operating in Tokyo and Osaka. They seek a Sound Director to develop and manage the overall sound design direction for action game production, aligning with project themes and characters. This role involves collaborating with sound design and music teams to oversee the implementation of in-game audio, managing quality and schedules, and conducting final sound checks.
Must have:
  • Over 5 years of experience in sound direction within the gaming industry, with a proven track record in sound design and implementation for action games.
  • Proficiency in sound design and audio engineering, with expertise in DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and various audio editing software.
  • Strong project management and team management skills, with the ability to coordinate with other teams.
  • Proficiency in Japanese and English communication, or a willingness to learn.
Good to have:
  • Proven experience in sound direction for action games or large-scale projects.

What the Role Entails

Job Description

1. Develop and manage the overall sound design direction for action game production, creating sound elements that align with the project’s themes and characters.

2. Collaborate closely with the sound design and music production teams to oversee the design and implementation of in-game music, sound effects, character voices, and environmental sounds.

3. Manage quality and production schedules to provide an optimal audio experience that meets project requirements.

4. Conduct final sound checks and quality assurance, coordinating with other departments and external partners as needed.

Salary: Annual salary: negotiable (with raises/bonuses)

  • *Consideration will be given to experience, skills, etc., and will be treated favorably according to company regulations.*
  • *For general employees, 35 hours of fixed overtime pay per month is included.*
  • *For managerial positions, 10 hours of fixed overtime pay is included.*

Working Hours/Holidays:

  • Working hours: 09:30 ~ 18:30, Break time: 60 minutes
  • Flex-time available
  • Complete two-day weekend system (Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays)
  • Paid leave: For the first year of employment, granted proportionally to the month of joining. Up to 22 days based on years of service.
  • New Year holidays (December 30 - January 3)
  • Sick leave (paid): 12 days/year (granted separately from paid leave)
