Job Description
As a Staff Data Scientist at Google, you'll be responsible for evaluating and improving Google's products, particularly focusing on enhancing the Google Search experience with GenAI model capabilities. You'll collaborate with engineers and analysts to solve complex problems, working closely with executive engineers and product managers to deliver on a roadmap aimed at unlocking new use cases for billions of daily users. Responsibilities include identifying and clarifying business questions, designing and evaluating mathematical models, gathering and compiling data from various sources (using SQL, R, Python), and ensuring data quality for analysis. You'll be working with cutting-edge technology and contributing significantly to Google's search product.
Must have:
- Master's degree in quantitative field
- 8 years experience (or 6 with PhD)
- Proficient in Python, R, SQL
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
- Data mining & manipulation expertise

As a Data Scientist, you will evaluate and improve Google's products. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and analysts on a wide range of problems.
You will be working closely with a team of executive engineers and product managers, and delivering on a roadmap aimed at charging the Google Search experience with the latest GenAI model capabilities and unlock new use cases or ways of how billions of users interact with Google search on a daily basis.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders in cross-projects and team settings to identify and clarify business or product questions to answer. Provide feedback to translate and refine business questions into analysis, evaluation metrics, or mathematical models.
- Use custom data infrastructure or existing data models as appropriate. Design and evaluate models to mathematically express and solve defined problems with limited precedent.
- Gather information, business goals, priorities, and organizational context around the questions to answer, as well as the existing and upcoming data infrastructure.
- Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources via relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Independently format, re-structure, or validate data to ensure quality, and review the dataset to ensure it is ready for analysis.
