Job Description

Teravision Games seeks a Lead Programmer to lead their programming team and oversee the technical implementation of key game systems. This role requires advanced technical skills and strategic leadership to guide the team in developing functional, scalable solutions. Responsibilities include supervising programmers, defining programming standards, planning and scheduling projects, facilitating communication between teams, resolving technical issues, conducting thorough game testing, and supporting various team members across different game development areas (AI, Physics, Gameplay, Combat, UI/UX, Audio, and Engine). The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5, proven leadership experience, and a strong understanding of game development processes and architecture.
Must have:
  • 5+ years Unreal Engine 4/5 experience
  • 2+ years Verse experience
  • Team leadership experience (1-6 people)
  • Game development experience (pre-production to launch)
  • C++ programming skills
  • Knowledge of game engines & architecture
Good to have:
  • Unity experience
  • UEFN architecture knowledge

 We are looking for a Lead Programmer responsible for leading the programming team and ensuring the technical implementation of key systems in assigned projects. This role combines advanced technical skills with strategic leadership to coordinate, supervise, and guide the team in developing functional, scalable solutions aligned with project goals. Additionally, this role acts as a bridge between technical and creative teams, ensuring the effective integration of technical solutions into game design. 


 Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervise and lead the team of programmers, providing technical guidance, support, and mentorship while ensuring the quality and consistency of delivered work through continuous feedback and leadership.
  • Lead the professional development of the team through training, mentorship, ensuring their professional growth and alignment with the objectives of each role and the Studio
  • Define programming standards, processes, and best practices, based on existing code conventions and general area processes, to ensure an efficient workflow for the entire team under their supervision.
  • Design and oversee the planning and scheduling of the project, ensuring proper task allocation and adherence to established deadlines while identifying and communicating potential risks.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between the different areas involved in project development to ensure efficient execution aligned with the project's vision.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks related to performance and optimization within the project.
  • Address any complex bugs or issues that may arise during development, providing effective solutions.
  • Conduct thorough game testing, considering it as a complete product, to identify, improve, and/or correct features within their area or other areas.
  • Support different team members in AI, Physics, Gameplay, Combat, UI/UX, Audio, and Engine.

Requirements: 

 

  • 5 Years minimum of Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 and 2 years minimum of experience with verse.
  • Experience leading teams of 1 to 6 people.
  • Professional experience in the video game industry, with a proven track record in implementing key systems in projects.
  • Experience in video game projects from pre-production to launch, with multi-platform experience (PC, consoles, mobile).
  • Advanced knowledge of game engines (Unity, Unreal Engine, UEFN). 
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture and design patterns. 
  • Advanced knowledge of tools and collaboration processes in game development teams, such as version control (Git) and project management systems.
  • Knowledge of UEFN architecture, including complex device systems and persistent data.
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine architecture, including rendering systems, physics, collisions, and particle systems.
  • Knowledge of multiplayer game development, including state synchronization between clients and servers.
