Sportradar is seeking a Staff Engineer to join their team in Bremen, Germany. The role involves working with development teams on sports media and betting products, including augmented video streaming and interactive applications. The Staff Engineer will be responsible for supporting architectural decisions, driving product implementation and deployment, and guiding development teams. Key responsibilities include architectural support, hands-on development, deployment, promoting best practices, mentorship, collaboration, and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development with C++, C#, or Java and proficiency in AWS. They will also have the ability to lead and mentor development teams.
Must have:
  • 6 years of software development experience with C++, C#, or Java
  • Experience with AWS native services including EC2, S3, ECS, and RDS
  • Ability to lead and mentor development teams
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically
Good to have:
  • Experience with modern 3D engines like Unreal 5 and Unity
  • Experience with video streaming technology
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools

Together with the top leagues and federations around the globe, we are working on our vision for a range of products to increase fan engagement for the world of tomorrow.   We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development with C++, C#, or Java, and will be proficient in public cloud providers like AWS. This role involves working closely with various development teams on our sports media and sports betting products, including augmented video streaming, and interactive applications for fan engagement in sports utilizing modern 3D engines like Unreal 5 and Unity. The Staff Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting architectural decisions, driving product implementation and deployment, and guiding development teams with best practices in software engineering. 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Architectural Support: Collaborate with development teams to design and implement robust, scalable, and efficient architectures for our sports media products. 

  • Hands-On Development: Engage in hands-on coding and development to drive the implementation of key product features and functionalities. 

  • Deployment: Oversee the CI/CD process, ensuring smooth and efficient delivery of products using AWS native services. 

  • Best Practices: Guide development teams in adopting best practices in software engineering, including code reviews, testing, and documentation. 

  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations, to ensure alignment and successful delivery of products. 

  • Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, and proactively suggest improvements and innovations to enhance our products. 

QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 

  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in software development, with a focus on C++, C#, or Java. 

  • AWS Expertise: Proven experience with AWS native services, including EC2, S3, ECS, and RDS. 

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor development teams. 

  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively. 

  • Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 

PREFERRED SKILLS 
  • Good experience of modern 3D engines like Unreal 5 and Unity.  

  • Experience with video streaming technology  

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
