The Senior Automotive Platform/BSP/Safety Application Engineer will be responsible for supporting Qualcomm's automotive partners and customers, focusing on embedded software development, debugging, and customization for infotainment and ADAS technologies. This includes designing, developing, and debugging board support packages (BSP), addressing SW-related issues, and optimizing software to meet product requirements. The role involves collaboration with customers, understanding automotive platform hardware and software driver architecture, and working towards commercialization. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience and a strong desire for systematic working in a stressful environment.
Must have:
  • 12+ years of experience in Software Applications Engineering or Software Development
  • Experience with Embedded software development, integration, and debugging
  • Experience with Hypervisor architectures and systems like QNX or Greenhills Multivisor
  • Experience with C/C++ programming and modern scripting languages.
  • 5+ years development or debugging experience with High level operating systems (QNX, Linux and Android)
Good to have:
  • Experience with Automotive Infotainment or Autonomous Driving projects
  • Experience with manufacturing and testing of automotive systems.
  • Experience with Safety Software and associated tests in QNX and other high level operating systems
  • Experience in using debugging tools such as JTAG, ftrace or GDB.
  • Ability to work with common test equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyser, spectrum analyser, multi meter)
  • Experience with Serial peripherals UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe on hardware and software aspects.

We have debuted our third-generation infotainment product line and are now a leader in the automotive infotainment category for next-generation designs. Snapdragon is expanding in its capabilities to power the next-generation cockpit experience as the media and information centre in the vehicle, which drives significant audio, video, graphics, camera, and software complexity. AI is also now expanding the horizon and bringing new use cases to customers.

This position is for the Qualcomm Automotive Engineering team, which closely collaborates with its automotive partners and customers from concept to commercialization. The team involves with all aspects of embedded software such as SW & HW designs, feature prototyping, feature development, integration, customization, performance optimizations & improvement, and other debugging efforts which is key for a successful launch of the product.

We are looking for a strong software engineer (m/w/d) with good knowledge and hands-on experience in design/development/debugging aspects of board support packages (BSP). The main responsibility is to provide direct support to Qualcomm customers and partners with the design, development and debug of Qualcomm reference designs SW related issues and helping to customize/optimize software to meet the product requirements using the features in Qualcomm SOC. The candidate must quickly ramp-up onto an existing project, understand automotive platform hardware and software driver architecture, demonstrate strong analytical and systematic problem-solving abilities, and work closely with external customers to customize and launch their new products.

The successful candidate will get a chance to work on cutting edge infotainment/digital cockpit and ADAS technologies from leading auto manufacturers and Tier1s and contribute to push the projects through to commercialization.


Required Qualifications:
- 12+ years Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
- Experience with Embedded software development, integration, debugging.
- Experience with Hypervisor architectures and systems like QNX or Greenhills Multivisor.

- Experience with technical aspects of Functional Safety and Functional Safety technical concepts

- Experience with C/C++ programming and modern scripting languages.
- 5+ years development or debugging experience with High level operating systems (QNX, Linux and Android)
- Generic understanding the boot process and hardware blocks of ARM based SoC systems.
- Excellent issue triage and debugging skills with complex system level issues.
- An intrinsic desire for systematic working and ability to deliver high quality results in a stressful environment.
- Good communication and excellent team working skills.
- Quick adaptability to work in new technologies.
- Ability to take up project management responsibilities and basic understanding of software development processes.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Automotive Infotainment or Autonomous Driving projects
- Experience with manufacturing and testing of automotive systems.

- Experience with technical aspects of Functional Safety and Functional Safety technical concepts

- Experience with Safety Software and associated tests in QNX and other high level operating systems

- Experience in using debugging tools such as JTAG, ftrace or GDB.
- Ability to work with common test equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyser, spectrum analyser, multi meter)
- Experience with Serial peripherals UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe on hardware and software aspects.
- Experience with complex interfaces like USB, Ethernet, CSI, DSI or HDMI.
- Experience with storage peripherals like UFS, eMMC or NVMe.
- Deep understanding of the ARM architecture.
- Experience with working with schematics and being able to do basic hardware reworks.
- Exposure to Secure boot and Trusted Operating systems concept.
- Ability to lead a small cross-functional team and mentoring junior team members in technical and non-technical topics.
- Driving license for Germany and ability to freely travel within Europe and North America.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Electronics, or related field, (Masters Preferred)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

• 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
