Job Description

As a Technical Artist at VOID Interactive, you will bridge the gap between art and technology in Ready or Not. Responsibilities include collaborating with artists, designers, and programmers; developing and maintaining efficient asset pipelines; creating shaders, materials, and visual effects; resolving technical issues related to art production; designing and implementing custom tools and scripts; and conducting thorough testing and debugging. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in a tech artist role, proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, and expertise in real-time rendering techniques and game asset optimization. The role requires strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills and involves working with a global team.

Please note: For Irish residents/citizens, this role is offered as a full-time employee position. For applicants based outside of Ireland, this role will be offered as a contractor position.

Our goal is ambitious: to establish Ready or Not as the quintessential FPS of our generation. To achieve this, we’re seeking a dedicated and innovative Technical Artist to join us remotely and help elevate Ready or Not to even greater heights.


As one of our Technical Artists, you’ll act as the bridge between art and technology, bringing together creativity and technical expertise to optimize and enhance our game’s visual fidelity and performance. You'll play a critical role in ensuring our artistic vision comes to life seamlessly within the game engine.


In this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Working closely with artists, designers, and programmers to understand their needs and provide technical support and guidance throughout the development cycle.
  • Developing and maintaining efficient pipelines for asset integration and optimization across platforms, focusing on memory usage, performance (frame rates, load times), and visual fidelity.
  • Creation and implementation of shaders, materials, and visual effects to enhance the game’s aesthetics and rendering performance, ensuring artistic consistency and efficiency.
  • Resolution of complex technical issues related to art production, including assets, rigging, animation, lighting, and VFX, ensuring compatibility with the Unreal Engine pipeline.
  • Designing and implementing custom tools and scripts to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and enhance the production pipeline.
  • Conducting thorough testing and debugging to ensure all art assets and features meet performance, quality, and functionality standards.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for technical processes, best practices, and tools developed, ensuring knowledge is shared across the team.
  • Continuous integration of the latest techniques, tools, and trends in tech art to improve workflows and contribute to the overall success of the project.


Of course, you won’t be alone on this mission. You’ll work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure all efforts are aligned and impactful.


Here’s what you’ll be bringing to the team:

  • A strong portfolio showcasing technical artistry in games.
  • 5+ years of experience in a tech artist role within the gaming industry.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, including knowledge of Blueprints, materials, and performance optimization tools.
  • Solid understanding of real-time rendering techniques, PBR workflows, and game asset optimization.
  • Proficiency in at least one of these languages (Python, HLSL, C#,  C++.) for tool development and pipeline enhancements.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a knack for balancing creative vision and technical constraints.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and effectively manage your time to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, fostering collaboration across disciplines.
  • A passion for games and a desire to push the boundaries of visual and technical excellence.
  • Willingness to work with a global team, outside of the normal 9-5 office hours.


Bonus knowledge:

  • Familiarity with profiling and debugging tools for optimizing game performance.
  • Knowledge of procedural creation and engine tools such as Houdini, PCG in Unreal Engine, Geometry Script, etc.
