Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you'll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You'll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. In this role, you will lead individual initiatives and projects and work with teams across the company in support of Google's global data center energy portfolio, including our efforts to reach 24/7 carbon-free energy and other clean energy objectives. You will focus on operational management of energy contracts, conducting portfolio analysis, generating actionable insights, and proactively identifying improvements that support portfolio operations.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management
  • 2 years of experience in electricity tariffs, rate structures, wholesale energy market contracts, energy portfolio operations, or energy contract management
  • Experience building SQL based queries, creating dashboards and reports
  • Converting data into insightful actionable information
  • Work with internal and external parties to maximize the value of Google’s energy contracts
  • Assist in calculation of portfolio profit and loss, tracking, reporting, and forecasting on energy portfolio performance and attribution
  • Lead and execute project management activities for tactical projects and initiatives within our portfolio operations
  • Collaborate with diverse team members and cross-functional partners to address topics related to utility tariffs, rate structures, long-term renewable energy agreements, and agreement management
  • Interpret, analyze, communicate, and resolve complex issues that arise during contract management
  • Oversee contract review and operationalization, leveraging data-driven analysis to drive process improvements
Good to have:
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field
  • Experience in wholesale electricity markets, utility tariffs, and Power Purchase Agreements in multiple regions
  • Experience in Python
  • Experience in performing quantitative analysis with understanding of applied and financial mathematics concepts and techniques

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics, Finance) or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management.
  • 2 years of experience in electricity tariffs, rate structures, wholesale energy market contracts, energy portfolio operations, or energy contract management.
  • Experience building SQL based queries, creating dashboards and reports and converting data into insightful actionable information.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in wholesale electricity markets, utility tariffs, and Power Purchase Agreements in multiple regions.
  • Experience in Python.
  • Experience in performing quantitative analysis with understanding of applied and financial mathematics concepts and techniques (including statistical techniques).
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and ability to coordinate with energy experts and non-experts and lead projects requiring inputs from multiple teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external parties to maximize the value of Google’s energy contracts, while ensuring contractual performance metrics are being met.
  • Assist in calculation of portfolio profit and loss, tracking, reporting, and forecasting on energy portfolio performance and attribution, quantifying drivers of spend, etc.
  • Lead and execute project management activities for tactical projects and initiatives within our portfolio operations. Collaborate with diverse team members and cross-functional partners to address topics related to utility tariffs, rate structures, long-term renewable energy agreements, and agreement management.
  • Interpret, analyze, communicate, and resolve complex issues that arise during contract management such as majeure, non-compliance, regulatory requirements, market and payment operations, etc.
  • Oversee contract review and operationalization, leveraging data-driven analysis to drive process improvements.
