Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you'll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You'll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate with cross-functional partners. This role focuses on NPI processes common to all NPIs, such as materials management, optics deployments, and decommissioning. You will build technological and process knowledge to assess NPI readiness, create new processes, and innovate, working with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of capacity using new technology. Responsibilities include collaborating with team members to define work problems and program goals, prioritizing deliverables, defining project scopes, developing and executing project plans, reviewing key metrics, identifying and communicating with stakeholders, and building and maintaining dashboards.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years program management experience
  • Network design and implementation experience
  • NPI experience
  • Cross-functional project management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define goals and deliverables
  • Develop and execute project plans
  • Review and monitor key program metrics
Good to have:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with network design and implementation
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with network planning and engineering, including data center network engineering in complex environments.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the time to other Google data centers and offices.

You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

This role will be focussed on NPI processes that are common to all NPIs such as Materials management, Optics deployments, Decommissioning, and other processes or programs that span NPIs.

In this role, you will build the technological and process knowledge necessary to assess NPI readiness through a series of communications, reviews and retrospectives. This information enables other teams to effectively prepare for seamless delivery of capacity using the new technology. You will create new processes and methods to innovate and review the work with a wide range of stakeholders.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand or identify defined work problems and program goals, obtain prioritized deliverables, and discuss program impact.
  • Prioritize program goals, understand and translate other stakeholders’ needs into program goals and prioritize deliverables with minimal assistance, and contribute to decisions on prioritizing goals and deliverables.
  • Define the scope of projects and develop, execute, or manage project plans for supported program(s).
  • Review key metrics pertaining to a program, monitor potential metric deviations, and define corrective actions for critical deviations.
  • Identify, communicate, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders within one or more teams to drive impact and work toward mutual goals. Build, maintain and enhance business, operational, and management dashboards.
