Job Description

As the sole UI Artist in a small, agile team, you'll design and create visually appealing and user-friendly UI components for a tile puzzle game (prototyping phase). Responsibilities include designing puzzle elements, boosters, blockers, and UI components for core gameplay, in-game events, and meta-game features. You'll collaborate with designers and developers, maintain visual consistency, optimize assets, and iterate based on feedback. Proficiency in Unity, digital painting software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma), and a strong portfolio showcasing puzzle game UI/UX work are essential. Experience with 2D animation is a plus.
Must have:
  • 3+ years Game Art experience (puzzle games preferred)
  • Strong UI/UX portfolio (puzzle game elements)
  • Proficiency in Unity, Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Good to have:
  • 2D animation (Spine or similar)
  • Experience with casual game development

We’re looking for a talented and passionate UI Game Artist to join our remote team and help bring our new tile puzzle game to life, currently in the prototyping phase. In this role, you’ll use your artistic expertise and creativity to craft a stunning visual experience, with a strong focus on clear, polished UI design and engaging game art for core gameplay, in-game events, and meta-game elements. 

What you’ll be doing

  • Be the sole UI artist of a small, agile team, and own all related work. 

  • Design and create visually appealing and user-friendly UI components for core gameplay including puzzle elements, boosters, blockers, and user interface components, for core gameplay, in-game events, and meta-game features.

  • Collaborate closely with game designers and developers to ensure seamless integration of visual elements.

  • Maintain consistency in visual style, ensuring assets are polished and aligned with the game’s overall aesthetic.

  • Optimize assets for performance without compromising visual quality.

  • Provide creative solutions to design challenges and iterate based on feedback from the team.

  • Implement and iterate on graphical UI elements in Unity.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience as a Game Artist, with a focus on casual (preferably puzzle) games, with at least 1 shipped game and 3+ years of experience.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing your skills in creating game assets, specifically puzzle game elements, boosters, blockers, and UI components

  • Fully proficient working with Unity

  • Proficiency in digital painting and illustration software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma).

  • Solid understanding of color theory, composition, and visual communication.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to take direction and constructive feedback.

  • Passion for casual games and a keen eye for engaging visual design.

Bonus points for

  • 2D animation in Spine, or similar softwares.
