The Vice President of Sports Sales will be responsible for developing internal cross-departmental relationships with Sports teams, marketing, distribution, business development, and finance teams. This role involves developing marketing ideas and concepts for advertisers, connecting marketers with the US Hispanic sports market, and providing strategic direction. Key responsibilities include client prospecting, developing client offerings, external agency visits, deal negotiation, and ensuring execution with the sports production team. The role requires overseeing regional account management and initiatives.
Must have:
  • Experience selling cross platform media.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in sports sales multimedia sports sales and marketing.
  • Passion and knowledge for sports.
  • Knowledge of soccer and soccer calendar.
  • Understanding of Nielsen Ratings and comScore.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs.
Good to have:
  • Property sales experience with intellectual property, and event /experiential concepts.
  • Prior experience with Agencies including both media buying agencies AND pure play sports marketing agency, activation and event marketing agencies.

Job Details

This individual must be able to navigate and develop the internal cross departmental relationships.  This includes relationship with the Sports teams that develop the content and partnerships in all platforms including TV, Digital, and Event marketing.   In addition, the role works with a number of different partners within the organizations:

 Distribution to understand strategy with affiliate partners, Business Development, Finance and other leaders. This person also works very closely with the Sports Partner Solutions team to develop marketing ideas and concepts to provide advertisers with the best platform to bring their brand to Hispanic market. 

This individual must have a genuine passion to help marketers connect with the sweet spot of the US Hispanic sports market.  In our viewership, we have a very valuable consumer and, our role in Sport sales is to help connect our partners with our audience in a meaningful way. 

ABOUT YOU:

YOUR DAY TO DAY:

  • The VP of Sports provides strategic directive and serves as the consults. 
  • In this role, the VP serves as the liaison between the Sports Sales team and the direct marketing team the various UCI properties.
  • Execute the strategy to help support in a heavily matrixed organization having oversight by region/account management and key sports property initiatives. 
  • Internal client prospecting and development.
  • Determine client offerings and developing ideas that impact with Sports Marketing Partner Solutions.
  • External visiting the agency and with clients being the sports voice.
  • Negotiating and working with our account executives and negotiating the elements of the deal and negotiate with agency.
  • Ensuring the execution with the sports production team to ensure implementation of buy.
  • Account Management of the clients who are on air to ensure continued agency /customer satisfaction.
  • Review, plan and present new sport property opportunities and determine viability for business revenue potential.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience selling cross platform media.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in sports sales multimedia sports sales and marketing.
  • Passion and knowledge for sports.
  • Knowledge of soccer and soccer calendar. 
  • Understanding of Nielsen Ratings and comScore.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication and influencing skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Property sales experience with intellectual property, and event /experiential concepts.
  • Prior experience with Agencies including both media buying agencies AND pure play sports marketing agency, activation and event marketing agencies. 
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and organization skills given the many moving parts.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis 


Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Please note the national salary range listed in the job posting reflects the new hire salary range across levels and U.S. locations that would be applicable to the position.
