Job Description

The Weekend Nights Lead Quality Inspector at Axon will be responsible for inspecting materials, following inspection plans, and ensuring the right level of quality. This role involves conducting tests, interpreting technical data, and using metrology tools. The inspector will also need to maintain the QC database, recommend solutions, and collaborate with stakeholders. It also involves managing a team of inspectors and ensuring adherence to standards. The job requires working three 12-hour shifts from Friday to Sunday at the Deer Valley, Arizona office.
Must have:
  • Manage a team of inspectors on the shift.
  • Conduct tests and inspections of raw, in-process, and finished goods.
  • Read and interpret technical data and specifications (2D prints/CAD).
  • Perform push and pull testing using Mark-10 equipment.
  • Use a wide range of metrology tools (calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, optical comparator, etc).
  • Interpret test results and compare to established specifications.
  • Maintain laboratory testing and measurement equipment.
  • Monitor operational procedures to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Maintain the QC database by logging, transcribing, and recording data.
  • Effectively Join Forces with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong ‘Own It’ mentality to work autonomously and manage time effectively.
Good to have:
  • IPC-A-610 certification.
  • Green Belt Certification.
  • Experience of ISO standards, inspection standards and quality concepts.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Minitab, JMP; other statistical software considered.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, procedures and standards.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and technical report writing skills.

Your Impact

Are you crazy about quality? Do you love inspecting material to ensure the right level of quality. Axon is looking for a self-motivated Quality Inspector that is hungry to show their talents in the public safety industry.

As Axon’s Lead, Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for the inspection of material following Axon’s inspection plans for raw in-process and outgoing quality. 

What You’ll Do

Location: Onsite at our Deer valley, Arizona office-  3, 12 Hour Shifts. Friday- Sunday 6PM-6:30AM


Reports to: Quality Control Supervisor

  • Manage the workload for a team of 4-6 inspectors on the shift
  • Conduct routine and non routine tests and inspections of raw, in-process and finished good products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
  • Read and interpret technical data and specifications (2D prints/CAD) to conduct meaningful inspections and tests
  • Perform push and pull testing using Mark-10 equipment to qualify parts or gather data for engineering
  • Conduct non destructive and destructive testing on raw, in-process and finished good material to qualify material or aid in root cause investigations
  • Use a wide range of metrology tools (calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, optical comparator, etc)
  • Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations on product release.
  • Maintain laboratory testing and measurement equipment
  • Monitor operational procedures in technical environments to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Conduct layered process audits to ensure compliance with Axon 7S standards
  • Maintain the QC database by logging, transcribing, recording, data in written or electronic form.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to recommend the best solution and solve problems
  • Effectively Join Forces with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong ‘Own It’ mentality to work autonomously and manage time effectively

What You Bring

  • Associates Degree or equivalent Experience
  • Basic software and computer skills
  • IPC-A-610 certification (Preferred)
  • Green Belt Certification (Preferred)
  • Experience of ISO standards, inspection standards and quality concepts
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint,
  • Familiarity with Minitab, JMP; other statistical software considered
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, procedures and standards
