About the Team

The German Fashion Team is made up of specialized Category Teams as well as a dedicated Trading Team.

We are currently seeking to backfill a key position within our Fashion (Sneaker) team based in Berlin/Dreilinden, and are looking for a motivated and skilled Category Manager (m/f/d) to join us.

  

What you will accomplish:

The Category Manager will manage and develop one or multiple categories within the Fashion Vertical team. The role includes strategy definition, operational cadences (insights, reporting, trading), relationship with allocated brands and retailers and a close alignment with various departments to further develop e.g. the categories experience.

The Category Manager will also lead wider, cross-functional and cross-category projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drive the implementation of category strategies and plans to achieve sales targets, customer satisfaction (CSAT), and other key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Manage the day-to-day operations and tactical initiatives within the assigned category
  • Develop and maintain an optimized product assortment that aligns with customer needs and share plans with Business Development (BD) and Account Management teams
  • Implement pricing strategies that balance market competitiveness with business profitability
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic sellers, including negotiating commercial terms to ensure product quality, availability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Collaborate with Account Managers to ensure sellers maintain proper inventory levels, product availability, and meet platform standards
  • Analyze sales performance, category trends, and market data to identify growth opportunities and operational improvements
  • Prepare and present regular reports on category performance, highlighting key insights and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Partner with internal teams—such as marketing, finance, operations, customer service, and account management—to execute category initiatives effectively
  • Leverage customer behavior data and feedback to tailor product offerings, enhance the category experience, and inform broader marketing and merchandising strategies

What you will bring:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Category Manager, Merchandiser, Sourcer, or Buyer within an (online) retail environment
  • Comprehensive understanding of the fashion sector and online retail landscape
  • Strong track record of successfully negotiating assortment and promotional strategies with external partners
  • Ability to identify assortment needs based on customer demand, trends, seasonality, catalog gaps, or strategic goals
  • Capable of working both tactically and strategically to drive and respond to business performance
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong business acumen
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills in both large and small group settings
  • Proven ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, from operations to C-Level executives
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • General proficiency with relevant tools, systems, and procedures required to perform the job effectively
  • A college degree or relevant professional training
  • Proficiency in English
