DON’T NOD is seeking a Cinematic Director to lead the creation of cinematic content for an Action-RPG project. The role involves directing in-game cinematics, supervising the cinematic team, defining technical and artistic approaches, and validating final cinematics. Key tasks include defining the game's cinematographic vision, designing storyboards, directing motion capture, and ensuring quality and consistency with gameplay. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, game directing experience, and knowledge of game engines like Unreal Engine 5.
Must have:

  • Supervising and checking editing and retouches
  • Writing guidelines and pipelines for project teams
  • Ensuring quality, deadlines, and budget adherence
  • Supervising the Camera Artist team

Job Details

DON’T NOD is looking for a Cinematic Director F/H/X to strengthen our team on an Action-RPG project.

Reporting to the Executive Producer, your role will be to lead the creation of cinematic content for our game.

Responsibilities:

  • Directing in-game cinematics
  • Supervision and coaching of the cinematic team
  • Defining technical and artistic means for the creation and shooting of cinematic content
  • Validation of cinematics

Tasks:

  • Defining the cinematographic vision of the game, in collaboration with the project's creative direction
  • Designing and supervising cinematics: storyboard, staging, animation (…)
  • Ensuring consistency between cinematics and gameplay
  • Directing staging and motion capture shoots
  • Supervising and checking editing and retouches
  • Writing guidelines and pipelines to help project teams
  • Ensuring the quality of deliverables, adherence to deadlines and budget
  • Supervising the Camera Artist team: leading and organizing their activity, individual support

Qualifications

  • Experience as a director in video games: staging, storyboarding, actor direction, editing and directing techniques, narrative logic
  • Leadership: decision-making, ability to argue, formulating feedback and recommendations, ability to unite and build a relationship of trust with teams, team supervision and support
  • Knowledge of a game engine, ideally Unreal Engine 5
  • Communication, listening and teamwork, to collaborate effectively with all trades involved in the project
  • Adaptability and quick understanding of team challenges and constraints, solution-oriented
