Job Description
The Data Center Technician role at Google involves installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining server hardware and interacting with server software (e.g., Google's Linux clusters). Responsibilities include contributing to the deployment, maintenance, and support of data center infrastructure; troubleshooting and resolving critical technical issues; testing and troubleshooting new server hardware; and configuring and troubleshooting Linux OS issues on servers. This position requires experience with Linux tools, troubleshooting hardware/network issues, and familiarity with various operating systems (Linux distributions, Unix variants, and Windows). The ideal candidate will also possess intermediate understanding of OS, PC hardware, and networking concepts.
Must have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree
- Linux troubleshooting experience
- Experience with Linux/Unix OS
- Hardware and network troubleshooting
- Ability to lift heavy equipment
Good to have:
- Understanding of intermediate OS, PC hardware, and networking concepts

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- Experience with troubleshooting hardware/network issues using Linux tools
- Experience with LPIC or working with Linux (e.g., Red Hat, Slackware, Fedora, SUSE, Ubuntu, Debian, Gentoo), Unix (e.g., Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, BSD), or other similar OS (Windows).
Preferred qualifications:
- Understanding of intermediate OS, PC hardware and networking concepts, tools and protocols.
- Ability to lift/move heavy equipment as needed.
- Ability to start in 2026.

As a Data Center Technician, you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware (e.g., servers and their components) and interact with server software (e.g., Google's Linux clusters). You will also deploy and maintain Google's advanced data center server and network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Contribute efforts/projects in the deployment, maintenance, and support of current and new data center infrastructure.
- Provide troubleshooting, and resolve critical, or escalated technical issues.
- Help test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs.
- Configure and troubleshoot Linux OS-related issues on servers.
