Job Description

As a Data Engineer II at gTech Users and Products (gUP), you'll build data-driven decision-making tools. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and supporting data pipelines, warehouses, and reporting systems. You'll create ETL and reporting systems using various data systems, collaborate with stakeholders to meet evolving requirements, work with data scientists to productionize models, and write technical documentation. The role requires strong programming, data pipeline design, data analysis, and database querying skills. You will contribute to a team supporting Google's global user base and ensuring the success of Google's diverse product ecosystem.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++).
  • 1 year of experience designing data pipelines (ETL) and model data for synch and asynch system integration and implementation.
  • 1 year of experience analyzing data, database querying (e.g., SQL), and creating dashboards/reports.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience partnering with stakeholders (e.g., users, partners, customers).
  • 1 year of experience developing project plans and delivering projects on time within budget and scope.
  • Experience in large-scale distributed data processing.
  • Experience with Unix or GNU/Linux systems.
  • Experience designing data models and data warehouses with an understanding of non-relational data storage systems (e.g., NoSQL and distributed database management systems).

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $102,000-$146,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and support data pipelines, warehouses and reporting systems to solve problems for business operations, users and products.
  • Create Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) and reporting systems for new data using a variety of traditional as well as large-scale distributed data systems.
  • Collaborate and influence users and products stakeholders, and support engineers to ensure our data infrastructure meets constantly evolving requirements.
  • Work closely with data scientists to productionize various statistical and machine learning models using data processing pipelines.
  • Write and review technical documents, including design, development, and revision documents.
