AVER is seeking Latent Print Examiners for critical mission support biometric services within DHS. Responsibilities include preparing, searching, analyzing, comparing, and evaluating friction ridge images; comparing latent prints to known prints; examining digital images; utilizing digital forensic principles and tools; reviewing identity data in Federal repositories; writing technical reports; developing professional relationships; providing courtroom testimony; and training less skilled examiners. The role requires experience in fingerprint examination and analysis, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and availability for shift work (24/7 operation). A minimum of three years' experience as a Latent Print Examiner is required. This is a hybrid position requiring one on-site visit per month in Springfield, VA.

AVER is seeking Latent Print Examiners focused on critical mission support biometric services within DHS. This group delivers and manages all deployed identity services and ensures sustainment of automated capabilities. Responsibilities Include:
Be able to prepare, search, retrieve, analyze, compare, and evaluate friction ridge images
Practical experience in comparing latent prints to known prints and make conclusions
Experience in the examination of digital images and determination whether a latent print has sufficient quality to make a comparison, and/or to submit to the available databases
Experience with digital forensic principles and tools and knowledge of tools and systems used for identity exploitation of biometric attributes
Shall also possess experience in the review and evaluation of identity data contained in large Federal identity information repositories and in the management best practices, techniques, and methods in the biometric field
Write technical reports on the scientific analysis of comparisons
Develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues and
Provide outstanding customer service and support to State, Federal and Local Law Enforcement agencies, agents throughout the Department of Homeland Security and its mission partners
Provide courtroom testimony which includes the preparation of charts, photographs, and other materials as needed
Train less skilled fingerprint examiners in fingerprint examination and analysis as needed.
Act as the verifier, providing Quality Assurance (QA) checks made by less skilled fingerprint examiners as needed
Perform other related duties as needed
Must be available for shift work. This is a 24 x 7 operation, 365 days a year and all candidates must be willing to work, nights, weekends and/or holidays
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher/equivalent work experience in related field
Experience Requirements:
A minimum three years of experience as a Latent Print Examiner. Candidate must be confident in preparing, searching, retrieving, analyzing, comparing, and evaluating both ten print and latent fingerprints using both automated tools as well as manual methodologies to make a determination of fingerprint matches
Ability to work evening, weekend and/or holiday shifts, when required
Location:
HYBRID (1 time per month on site in Springfield, VA)
Security Requirements:
Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance (Public Trust)
