As the Director of Product Marketing, Software, you will be responsible for developing and executing product marketing strategies for a range of software products, including Digital Evidence Management, Records Management, mobile apps, and AI solutions. You will lead a team of product marketers, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define product positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies. This involves understanding customer needs, analyzing the competitive landscape, and equipping sales teams with the necessary tools and training. You will also be involved in content creation and representing the company at industry events. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
Must have:
  • 10+ years of product marketing experience
  • Experience with SaaS or software-focused organizations
  • Proven ability to develop and execute go-to-market strategies
  • Experience in a team leadership role
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of public safety or government markets is a plus
  • Familiarity in marketing enterprise-level software solutions

Your Impact

We’re seeking a strategic Director of Product Marketing, Software, to define and execute positioning and marketing strategies for a portfolio of software products, including Digital Evidence Management, Records Management, mobile apps, and AI solutions. In this role, you will be instrumental in articulating the value of our software offerings to customers and driving adoption across public safety and adjacent markets. You will lead and mentor a high-performing team, collaborate across departments, and shape the go-to-market strategy for some of Axon’s most innovative solutions.

What You’ll Do

Location: Denver/Boulder OR Scottsdale OR Seattle OR San Francisco
Reports to: Senior Director, Head of Product & Solution Marketing
Direct Reports: 2 Product Marketers

  • Define Product Marketing Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies for Axon’s software products, aligning with company goals and customer needs.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of product marketers to deliver impactful positioning, messaging, and enablement strategies for our Digital Evidence Management, Records Management, mobile apps and AI solutions.
  • Go-to-Market Execution: Partner with Product, Sales, and Marketing teams to build launch plans, drive product adoption, and ensure successful market penetration for all software offerings.
  • Customer Insights: Work alongside our product and sales teams to deeply understand customer pain points, preferences, and decision-making processes, translating insights into actionable strategies.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Understand the competitive landscape for products within your portfolio, leveraging those insights to not only position our products but to also support sales in addressing competitive pressure.
  • Positioning & Messaging: Craft compelling, differentiated positioning and concise, relevant messaging for all software products, ensuring alignment with Axon’s brand and value proposition.
  • Sales Enablement: Equip sales teams with the tools, training, and resources they need to effectively communicate the value of Axon’s software solutions.
  • Performance Tracking: Define and monitor KPIs for product marketing efforts, leveraging data to optimize strategies and drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Content Creation: Work alongside our content and growth teams to create assets that support the buyer journey from awareness through to adoption.
  • Industry Thought Leadership: Represent Axon at industry events, customer meetings, and webinars, positioning the company as a leader in public safety software solutions.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in product marketing, including time in SaaS or software-focused organizations, with at least 3 years in a team leadership role.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute go-to-market strategies for complex software products, including a track record of successfully launching new products and increasing adoption of existing products
  • Hands-on approach to leadership with experience working simultaneously as individual contributor on some projects while also managing and mentoring a high-performing team.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration: Experience working closely with Product Management, Demand Generation, Corporate Communications, and Creative teams to understand the product roadmap and build cohesive campaigns.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with a talent for translating technical concepts into compelling narratives.
  • Data-driven approach to decision-making, with experience leveraging metrics to measure success and inform strategies.
  • Knowledge of public safety or government markets is a plus, with familiarity in marketing enterprise-level software solutions.

90 Days at Axon

  • Meet the Team: Build relationships with key stakeholders across Product, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Understand the Products: Deep dive into Axon’s software portfolio, market positioning, and customer use cases.

First 60 Days:

  • Strategic Alignment: Present an initial product marketing strategy and framework, aligning with company objectives.
  • Quick Wins: Identify immediate opportunities to refine messaging, positioning, or sales enablement materials.

90 Days & Beyond:

  • Execute Marketing Strategies: Lead the execution of marketing initiatives for Axon’s software products.
  • Drive Results: Establish KPIs and track performance to optimize future product marketing efforts.
  • Team Development: Continue to grow and mentor your team, ensuring alignment with Axon’s goals and values.
