Job Description

The Project Accountant will manage project financial health, collaborating with various stakeholders. Responsibilities include billing, contract management, responding to inquiries, reviewing budgets, implementing efficient procedures, coordinating consultant invoices, establishing financial reporting, recording revenue, monitoring accounts receivable, analyzing project financials, and overseeing project onboarding/offboarding. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, well-organized, and a team player. They should have experience in a creative services environment, preferably with an architecture or design firm. They should also be familiar with AIA contracts and proficient in Excel, with experience in Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint being preferred.

  • 3-5+ years experience in a creative services environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Highly proficient in Excel.
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with AIA contracts preferred.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint is preferred.
  • Accounting or business administration degree preferred.

About the Role
We're looking for a self-starter and team player who’s able to manage project financial health across the project lifecycle, collaborating with Practice Directors, Project Leads, Design Directors, clients, and consultants. This role is crucial to the success of our projects.  We are searching for a Project Accountant with a successful track record of working with Project Managers. We are looking for someone who is passionate about their work, fosters our team spirit, and wants to join a highly creative, collaborative team.

The ideal candidate will be a natural problem-solver who’s exceedingly well-organized and flexible, and who works well independently.


Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
  • Manage all aspects of billing with our Practice Directors and Project Leads, including preparing, coding and inputting project invoices
  • Set up and maintain project tracking and contract terms, reviewing contracts to understand and manage the financial requirements on each project.
  • Response to internal and external inquiries from project teams, consultants, or clients, and communicates financial information to project managers.
  • Review and monitor project work plans, budgets, and resource plans for project profitability and variance analysis
  • Continually identify and implement efficient procedures and processes to improve project financial management
  • Coordinate consultant invoices and payments and review for accuracy with project management stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain project financial reporting for project labor and expenses, analyzing actuals versus budgets and communicating to stakeholders
  • Record revenue in accordance with US GAAP and company policies
  • Monitor accounts receivable and work with project teams with collections.
  • Analyze both project revenue and expenses, ensuring accurate project profit and loss calculations, and communicating project financial performance and profitability to project teams
  • Oversee project financial onboarding and offboarding with Practice Directors and Project Leads, following and developing best practices 
  • Assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests, as necessary

Qualifications:
  • 3-5+ years experience in a creative services environment, preferably with an architecture or design firm
  • Familiarity with AIA contracts preferred
  • Accounting or business administration degree preferred
  • Detail oriented with excellent written, verbal and organization skills
  • Ability to be flexible, proactive, highly organized, and able to easily shift priorities in a rapidly changing work environment
  • Experience utilizing Google Suite products specifically Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, Calendars. 
  • Highly proficient in Excel, experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint is preferred


Compensation is based on relevant experience and qualifications. Salary for this role is estimated between $70,000 to $100,000 plus benefits and bonuses.
