Cartoon Saloon, established in 1999 by Paul Young, Tomm Moore, and Nora Twomey, is a world renowned animation studio with five Academy Award® and two Golden Globe® nominations and many award wins including BAFTA® and Emmy®. Located in Kilkenny, Ireland, the studio produces brave and beautiful shorts, feature films, and TV series. Cartoon Saloon is the founder and host of Kilkenny Animated, an annual festival of visual storytelling incorporating exhibitions, talks and performances celebrating the creativity of the animation craft.
As a Rough animation supervisor you will be responsible for:
- Producing animation in TVPaint and bring to tie-down stage, to be handed over to the clean animation department
- Animation will be created using posing, layout & model sheet pack
- Address any problems and communicate progress of work to the LP, Production Manager and Production Coordinator
- Work closely with Animation Leads to complete assignments and guide the artists to meet your weekly quota and deadlines as assigned by the Production Crew
- Ability to create brief that will be provided to the team
- Ability to take direction and respond well to notes from the Director / Asst. Director
- Ensuring all animation closely represents and is true to the style & direction of the project
- Ensuring consistency and continuity per established artwork
- Supervise completion of creative and technical revisions
- Ensuring the team adheres to the work flow structure of the project, including a clean and orderly delivery of assets
- Leading the team in being open and sharing processes and assets that could help with continuity and productivity
- Working cohesively within a team environment and ensure high levels of communication at all times
- Adhering to the production tools used for tracking workflow, input and delivery/output of scenes
- Communicating with fellow Anim Sup (and Leads) and department coordinator regarding any issues / concerns that may impact ability to meet deadlines
- To work under the supervision and guidance of the Director
- To work with relevant Production Coordinator/s to ensure the status of your work is known, allowing them to track the progression of assets
- Responsibility for Skills Development including but not limited to, working with the HR and production crew to identify skills development goals and ensure crew members are completing their learnings logs, ensure all skills development plans are completed within a timely manner, and fully signed off by the end of the training period.
- Maintain effective communication with all crew members, ensuring as a senior member of the team, any feedback or issue raised is done so in a respectful, supportive and constructive manner.
- Promote a good work ethic and positive atmosphere within the team
- Assist in keeping information relation to the projects confidential and secure
- Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and trainings as needed
