The Senior SAP Finance Consultant (GL) will be responsible for leading project implementations, providing specialist level functional and configuration knowledge in designing SAP solutions in the FI and CO modules, and ensuring the integrity of the finance configuration of the SAP system across multiple landscapes. The consultant will conduct or participate in user requirements gathering, blueprinting & documentation designs, lead workshops, and assist customers in improving business processes. Key responsibilities include configuration and master data knowledge in GL, AP, AR, Asset accounting and Cash and Bank accounting, including New GL accounting, document splitting and closing cockpit. The consultant will also be responsible for developing functional specifications, coordinating with technical developers, and assisting in testing and training activities. The position requires a strong understanding of SAP Activate Methodology and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must have:
  • 8-10 years of SAP experience.
  • Excellent functional knowledge of S/4HANA finance subject matters: GL, CO, FM, AP, AR, AM, etc.
  • Expertise in intercompany accounting, RAR integration, intercompany cost allocation and Group Reporting.
  • Ability to drive reporting requirements with the FI functional team.
  • Excellent specification writing skills.
  • 5 full life-cycle implementation projects.
  • At least one full-cycle S/4HANA implementation.
  • Understanding of SAP Activate Methodology.
  • Sound knowledge of configuration and master data.

Since 1998, LSI has developed a practice specifically working with government, higher education, research, and academic medical research organizations across North America. We have been involved with numerous higher education SAP application implementations, solution design, and ongoing support, maintenance, and advisory services. Twenty of twenty-two US Universities using SAP have been LSI clients. 

SAP Senior Finance Consultant (GL)
Migration experience preferred from ECC to S/4HANA.
 
SAP Experience
  • 8-10 years of SAP experience.
  • State government and/or Public Sector experience required.
SAP Skills
  • Must have excellent functional knowledge of S/4HANA finance subject matters: GL, CO, FM, AP, AR, AM, etc.
  • Must have Expertise in intercompany accounting, RAR integration, intercompany cost allocation and Group Reporting.
  • Must have the ability to drive reporting requirements with the FI functional team by interacting with those resources.
  • Must have the ability to understand existing blueprints and requirements documents.
  • Must have excellent specification writing skills.
  • Must have the ability to recognize when reporting requirements overlap within a subject matter for the purposes of report consolidation.
  • Experience writing Reporting Functional Specifications with Public Sector clients.
  • Be able to perform under pressure and a fast-paced project.
  • At least 5 full life-cycle implementation projects (from Blueprint/Explore through Go-Live).
  • At least one full-cycle S/4HANA implementation.
  • Understanding of SAP Activate Methodology.
  • Sound knowledge of configuration and master data, in GL, AP, AR, Asset accounting and Cash and Bank accounting including New GL accounting, document splitting and closing cockpit.
  • Sound knowledge of cost element, cost center, internal order, and has a working knowledge of profit center accounting.
Responsibilities 
  • Leads project implementations as a General Ledger Lead and understands integration to Funds Management and Grants Management modules following SAP ASAP or Activate Methodology standards.
  • Understands Public Sector Accounting and all the dependent master data objects required for financial reporting.
  • Provides specialist level functional and configuration knowledge in designing SAP solutions in the FI and CO modules. 
  • Should have sound knowledge of configuration and master data, in GL, AP, AR, Asset accounting and Cash and Bank accounting including New GL accounting, document splitting and closing cockpit.
  • Should have sound knowledge of cost element, cost center, internal order, and has a working knowledge of profit center accounting.
  • Understands configuration dependencies and interrelationships between separate functional modules of SAP and provide financial expertise into the definition and resolution of issues in this area with this knowledge.
  • Conducts or participates in user requirements gathering, blueprinting & documentation designs. Ensure compliance to existing, and development of required data and reporting standards.
  • Ensure the integrity of the finance configuration of the SAP system across multiple landscapes.
  • Leads workshops with customers to demonstrate and explain module functionality and best practice processes.
  • Assists customers improve business processes and documents changes required to SAP configuration settings to implement redesigned business processes.
  • Develops to-be design documentation for Master Data and Process designs.
  • Unit tests standard transactions and applications.
  • Develops functional specifications for Workflows, Reports, Interfaces, Data Conversions, Enhancements and Forms.
  • Coordinates with technical developers to review specifications with customers, explain the design and obtain approval of specifications. 
  • Makes SAP configuration settings as required.

  • Assists developers by responding to questions and clarifications.
  • Assists customer develop test cases, test scripts and test plans.
  • Assists customer perform integration and acceptance testing.
  • Resolves defects and issues identified by customer in integration testing.
  • Assists training developers by providing conceptual content, exercise content and demonstration content. Reviews training materials for correct representation of SAP functionality.
  • Executes data conversions and provides data validation assistance to customer.
  • Assists customers anticipate, identify and resolve post go-live issues.
  • Updates all design, configuration and specification documentation and conducts a documentation walk through with customer.
  • Provides knowledge transfer to customer throughout the project.
  • Responsible for the management of module Scope. 
  • Identifies and logs issues and risks.
  • Establish clear expectations regarding status reporting, team communication and deliverable management. 
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior consultants and project team members.
  • Manages and provide oversight of team tasks. 
  • Reports to Functional lead.
