Marsh McLennan is seeking a self-motivated and detail-orientated Senior Specialist - Finance Business Partner with exceptional stakeholder management skills to join our Global Technology FP&A team. You will be the key finance contact for the respective technology teams to support transparency and predictability of spending for both the technology team itself, as well as the associated business and finance stakeholders.
The Senior Specialist - Finance Business Partner will be responsible for driving regular forecasting and budgeting processes, as well as monthly variance analysis and a variety of ad hoc activity. It is also essential to ensure that information and insight is delivered in a timely and accurate manner making prioritizing workload and communication essential skills.
This position is based in midtown Manhattan and there is a requirement to work from the office at least three days per week.
We will count on you to:
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes for Technology spend, including operating and capital expenditures.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, Procurement, and Business Unit Finance teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting.
- Identify and articulate potential risks, with a solution orientated mindset to offer solutions
- Able to communicate with senior stakeholders in a credible and consistent way
- Able to manage large and complex data sets and turn into insight and action
- Conducts the month end close process by preparing accruals, researching general ledger activity and preparing variances to forecast budget and prior year.
- Continuously improve finance processes and reporting tools to enhance transparency, automation, and efficiency.
- Develop expertise in reporting and analytic tools and data sources, including Microsoft Office, Hyperion Interactive Reporting, Plan View, Essbase, iProcurement
- Able to develop an understanding of project accounting and the interplay with the general ledger
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Finance
What makes you stand out:
- MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) preferred.
- Experience in technology-focused business partnering roles preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with senior stakeholders in a matrixed, global organization.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with both finance and non-finance audiences
- Ability to influence stakeholders and outcomes
- Excellent analytical, modelling, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in financial systems and PPM tools. e.g. Microsoft Office, Power BI, Excel, Essbase, Plan View.
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively with both financial and non-finance audiences.
- Experience collaborating across teams, businesses, and time zones while managing multiple stakeholders.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
