Stardock is currently seeking an experienced full-time, Senior VFX Artist, to collaborate with our existing team on assets for an upcoming game title. The ideal candidate will be skillful in creating a variety of magical and environmental effects and have a strong artistic eye. Furthermore, the artist should be comfortable with a technical pipeline and interested in researching new technology for the project. This is a salaried, full-time position reporting to our Plymouth, Michigan studio. This position is open to remote and hybrid applicants  

 

Primary Responsibilities Include: 

 

  • Produce highly detailed particle and volumetric effects according to art direction, design specs and technical requirements. 
  • Create magical attacks, environmental and weather effects using Unreal Engine 5, Blueprints and Niagara. 
  • Collaborate cross discipline to continually ensure project visuals and improve upon our custom workflows and technology. 
  • Set up quality specs for asset creation and establish art pipelines and documentation in collaboration with the Art Lead, the Lead Animator, and the Art Director. 
  • Mentor entry-level and mid-level Artists when needed. 

 

Education and/or Experience Desired: 

  • 5+ Years professional experience making assets for games as displayed in a visual portfolio. 
  • Experience with Unreal 5, including Blueprints and Niagara. 
  • Strong grasp of color, form, composition and motion. 
  • Experience creating effects for real-time games. 
  • Experience with character and animation driven effects. 
  • Well-developed communication, teamwork and collaboration skills. 

 

Bonuses: 

  • Traditional drawing skills. 
  • Degree or certification in 3D art, digital art, or related discipline. 
  • Experience with 3D modeling. 
  • Experience creating scripts. 
  • Experience working with remote team members. 
  • Experience working on a strategy game.
