As a Senior Manager of Security Operations, you will lead the security operations team, oversee the protection of company assets, data, and infrastructure, reporting to the CISO. Your responsibilities include driving operational security excellence, managing incident response, and enhancing the security posture in a fast-paced technology environment. You will be responsible for leading the SOC team for 24/7 monitoring and response to security events, end-to-end incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, security policy and procedure development, security tool and technology management, stakeholder communication and reporting, and compliance and audit support. This role requires a deep understanding of security operations, incident response, and relevant regulations. You will need to mentor the team and optimize investments to maximize risk reduction and operational effectiveness.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager of Security Operations to lead our security operations team and oversee the day-to-day protection of company assets, data, and infrastructure. Reporting directly to the CISO and collaborating with other business units, you will be responsible for driving operational security excellence, managing incident response, and continually improving our security posture in a fast-paced technology environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Security Operations Center (SOC) Leadership (20%) - Lead, mentor, and develop the SOC team, ensuring 24/7 monitoring, analysis, and response to security events.

  • Incident Response Management (20%) - Oversee the end-to-end incident response lifecycle, including detection, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident analysis.

  • Threat Intelligence & Vulnerability Management (15%) - Oversee threat intelligence collection, vulnerability assessments, and ensure timely remediation of identified risks.

  • Security Policy & Procedure Development (10%) - Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with company objectives and compliance requirements.

  • Security Tool & Technology Management (20%) - Evaluate, implement, and optimize security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, etc.) to ensure robust protection and operational efficiency.

  • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting (10%) - Regularly communicate security status, risks, and incidents to executive leadership and other key stakeholders.

  • Compliance & Audit Support (5%) - Support internal/external audits and ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR).

Experience you’ll bring:

  • Deep knowledge of security operations principles, best practices, frameworks, and technologies

  • Proficiency with incident response, threat detection, network security, SIEM, and vulnerability management processes

  • Regulatory experience (e.g. ISO 27001, SOC II, PCI, NIST 800, etc.)

  • Experience managing and mentoring technical security teams

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Strong understanding of current threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies

  • Experience securing major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) at scale

  • Proven experience leading a Security Operations Center (SOC) or similar security team

  • Hands-on expertise with SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and other security operations tools

  • Demonstrated incident response leadership in real-world scenarios

  • Ability to communicate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Experience in developing, managing, and reporting on the security operations budget; forecast resource needs, track spend, and optimize investments to maximize risk reduction and operational effectiveness

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment

Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of 8 years of related or equivalent experience; or 6+ years with an advanced degree.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (highly preferred)

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in information security, including at least 3 years in a leadership role

The annual US base salary range for this role is $110,900 - $154,000 USD. Pluralsight's pay ranges vary based on work location. Talent Acquisition can share more detail during the hiring process when applicable. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. In addition to the base salary, this role may also be eligible for benefits and bonuses.
