To continue our success story, we are now looking for you to join our team as our new
Technical Artist (m/w/d).
Responsibilities:
- Liaison and Collaboration: ○ Act as a communication link between the programming and design teams ○ Collaborate closely with the Lead Artists, Lead Programmers and Directors ○ Research and develop tools specific to project needs
- Art Production Workflow: ○ Set up and maintain efficient workflows for 3D art production ○ Assist artists and engineers in the 3D art pipeline ○ Optimize completed artwork for performance and validation
- Custom Scripting and Tools: ○ Develop and maintain resources and pipelines alongside programmers ○ Write custom software using industry-standard scripting languages (C++, C#, Python, MELScript, etc.). ○ Prepare and design material and character pipelines
- Technical Problem Solving and Benchmarking: ○ Solve complex technical issues during development ○ Decide on necessary software and tools for game production ○ Ensure final art runs at full visual resolution within game engine limits
- Unreal Engine Experience (Preferred):
○ Investigate and oversee the implementation of rendering techniques in Unreal Engine 5. (Experience with Unreal Engine is a plus but not mandatory)
- Quality Assurance and Documentation: ○ Monitor game performance, resolve material errors, and address collision issues ○ Maintain technical documentation for the team
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position
- Motivation: Ability to balance artistic vision with technical constraints
- Experience: Familiarity with real-time digital art content creation, artistic workflows and material pipelines. Strong coding background in C++, C#, and Python
- Problem Solver: Creative and proactive problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Adaptability: Experience in working within iterative and agile processes; Self-motivated innovator, interpreter and researcher
- Team Player: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to assist a varied team; Good command of English language
Bonus Points:
- Experience with MEL Script and MaxScript (optional)
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine (preferred but not required)
- Basic to advanced skills in modeling and texturing
- Familiarity with support systems like bug tracking software (JIRA), version management (Perforce) or relevant software (Substance Designer, Houdini, etc.)
- Experience in any other game development discipline (VFX, Animation, Lighting, Design, etc.)
- A passion for games
