Playrix seeks a Technical Design Director with 5+ years of Unreal/Unity experience to lead the development of technical solutions for their game engine. Expertise in game interface production, content development processes, and effect production tools (Shuriken, Niagara, VFX Graph) are essential. Experience with shaders/materials in Shader Graph is also required.

Team, about the role

The Technical Design Director is the expert responsible for the strategic development of technical design and the final quality of technical solutions for the Playrix game engine.

Tasks

  • Regular interaction with specialists from different fields, including the game engine development team, project managers, and game development specialists like programmers, game designers, artists, and VFX specialists
  • Development of processes, practices, and tools related to the Playrix game engine to improve the quality and efficiency of their use in game development
  • Creation of a vision for technical solutions and the specific features of our game engine tools and their development. Responsibility for the final quality of said solutions
  • Development of the architecture of future solutions/decomposition, assessment, and planning of work
  • Work within the areas of game interface layout, creation of a technical base for effects, resource integration into the game, and game logic scripting in Lua or in a visual programming tool

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with Unreal and/or Unity. Or experience working with a similar proprietary engine
  • Understanding of game interface production processes and experience establishing game content development processes
  • Management skills, including the ability to take a feature from the pre-production stage to its implementation in the product, as well as the ability to prioritize work for yourself and your team
  • Technical knowledge of effect production tools: Shuriken, Niagara, VFX Graph, or their equivalents
  • Experience creating shaders/materials in Shader Graph (Unity/Unreal/Blender/equivalent)
  • Understanding of the basic principles of UI/UX

Preferred

  • Experience with After Effects
  • Experience with Max, Maya, and/or Blender
  • Experience working with Git
