Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Senior Environment Artist specializing in materials to join the development of a new IP.

As a member of the Art department, you’ll create high-quality materials and textures for game environments, ensuring they align with the game's artistic vision. You will also optimize materials for performance and help manage the project's material library.
As a member of the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.
You’ll help us by…
Collaborate with other artists, level designers and the art director to plan material needs for the project
Assess scope of materials requests with your immediate supervisor to establish an achievable production schedule
Create a wide range of high-quality materials for environments and props that align with the game's artistic vision.
Utilize industry-standard software (e.g., Substance Designer, Photoshop) to author textures that emphasize detail, realism, and visual storytelling
Work with the Photogrammetry Team to ensure quality scanned data is being used as a starting point for your materials
Optimize materials for performance and memory constraints on target platforms, ensuring visual fidelity while maintaining efficient resource usage
Organize and manage the project material library and ensure efficient knowledge of pipeline and utilization by team members
Continuously explore and implement new material authoring or shader techniques and tools to improve efficiency and quality
You’re awesome because you have…
A strong portfolio demonstrating focus and passion for material, texturing and shader creation
Proven experience (3+ years) in creating Environment or Prop Art in AAA game development with at least one AAA title connected to your name
Experience working in Modern Game Engines with an awareness of game budgets, limits, and memory constraints
Excellent artistic and design skills, including a keen eye for composition, color theory, and visual storytelling
Proficiency in industry-standard 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter/Designer)
Solid understanding of PBR (Physically Based Rendering) principles and material authoring
Ability to consistently resolve issues from a visual, production, and technical perspective
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to adapt to evolving project needs and work under tight deadlines
Bonus points for…
Knowledge of game engine shader creation, either node based or HLSL
Experience working in or developing procedural workflows via tools like Houdini or UPS
Experience with photogrammetry or other scanning techniques & workflows
