As a Previs Lead, you will be responsible for collaborating closely with the Creative Directors, Project Leads, and other key creative leadership to design and deliver visualization of shots, ensuring the creative vision is met through dynamic camera movement, animation, composition, staging, lighting and editing within a realtime game engine.

Responsibilities

    • Creatively and technically execute the visualization of narrative ideas through the virtual lens inside Unreal Engine. 
    • Design and/or match 2D storyboards with a 3D output referencing framing, movement, lighting, story, and emotion. 
    • Oversee other Previs team members work, help distribute tasks, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and facilitate creative reviews of their work both upwards with creative stakeholders and downwards with the artists themselves. 
    • You will be responsible for the following areas:
    •  Storyboarding: Development of either hand drawn or animatic based storyboards
       Asset Dev: modeling, texturing, shading of assets
       Scene Layout: Preparation of environmental elements for animation and layout
       Rigging: Development of in-shot pipeline compatible rig solutions
       Animation+Layout: Designing and animating shots over an entire sequence
       Lighting+Rendering: Preparation of low tech, fast render aesthetic solutions
       Tool Dev: Creation of tools to assist the previz team
       Editing: Compiling of sequences + sound design 
    • Partner with technology and CG departments to streamline workflow and pipeline.
    • Troubleshoot assets and shots, continually looking for and suggesting improvements to increase overall efficiency and productivity
    • Maintain or exceed consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work  
    • Demonstrate flexibility with iterative process

Requirements

    • 3+ years of leadership experience in visual effects film
    • 5+ years of experience in visual effects film
    • Experience in animation, previs and/or layout
    • Well versed in film grammar, composition and editorial decisions
    • Strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills
    • Proficiency with Maya/3DS Max and realtime game engine development (Unreal & Unity)
    • A reel demonstrating strong creative and technical ability in visualization workflows with a focus on animation, previs or layout; basic competency in modeling, texturing, lighting, camera, layout, compositing and rendering
