As Technical Director at Caramba Studio (Voodoo), you'll lead the technical development of a new Match-3 mobile game from conception to launch. Responsibilities include managing a team of engineers, overseeing architecture and implementation, ensuring performance and scalability, conducting code reviews, and collaborating with other teams. You'll develop core gameplay systems, optimize for various mobile devices, and integrate assets. Problem-solving, innovation, and project management are key. The goal is to create the next generation of Match-3 games.
Must have:
  • 3+ years as Technical Director/Lead
  • 6-7 years Unity or other game engine experience
  • Successful track record in top-tier mobile games
  • Experience growing engineering teams
  • Strong gameplay understanding and attention to detail
  • English fluency

Team

Our Gaming team is made up of hybrid-casual, casual, and mid-core experts. Our 'Core' games team supports internal and external studios worldwide in creating, developing, and launching new hit games, whilst our 'Live' games team focuses on delivering higher engagement on our existing and successful games.

Joining our Live games team means collaborating with gaming industry experts on globally renowned, enduring games while embracing exciting new entrepreneurial ventures. With over seven billion downloads worldwide and a portfolio of more than 10 resilient hybrid games generating more than $20m per year, we are the world's largest and most successful hybrid publisher.

As part of our product strategy, we are excited to expand beyond the hypercasual and hybridcasual markets into the casual Match-3 space. Our mission is to release the next $1B Match 3 game, pioneering the next generation in this category.

Role

As the Technical Director for our new mobile Match-3 game studio, you will be responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the game’s development from inception to launch. You will lead a team of engineers and work closely with designers, artists, and product managers to ensure the game is built to the highest standards. Your role will involve making key technical decisions, optimizing game performance, and ensuring the smooth integration of new features.

    • Leadership and Management:
    • Hire, lead and manage a team of engineers in the creation of a new mobile Match-3 game
      Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to the development team
      Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and project milestones

    • Technical oversight:
    • Oversee the architecture, design, and implementation of the game’s codebase from the ground up
      Ensure the scalability, performance, and maintainability of the game
      Conduct code reviews and enforce best coding practices

    • Game development:
    • Develop and implement core gameplay systems and features for a match 3 game
      Optimize game performance for various mobile devices
      Work with the art and design teams to integrate assets and animations seamlessly.

    • Problem-solving and innovation:
    • Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges during the development process
      Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies
      Innovate and implement new features to enhance the gameplay experience

    • Project management:
    • Assist in project planning and resource allocation for the new studio
      Track progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders
      Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget

      With this role, you will have a strong impact on the company by contributing daily to important decisions with a senior, multidisciplinary team of passionate and talented people working on one of the most ambitious Voodoo games. Profile

    • 3 years of experience as Technical Director or Technical Lead on games
    • At least 6-7 years of professional experience on Unity or other game engines
    • Successful track record in top-tier mobile games
    • Experience growing engineering teams
    • A creative and hacker mindset
    • Familiar with optimization issues
    • Good sense of gameplay experience and special attention to details
    • Speak and write English
