This role involves leading multi-disciplinary engineering projects for custom silicon products or development tooling within Google's Cloud AI Systems. Responsibilities include planning requirements, managing schedules, identifying risks, and communicating with cross-functional teams. The Technical Program Manager will use engineering knowledge to guide projects through the entire lifecycle, from design and development to testing, manufacturing, deployment, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with technical discussions and presenting analyses to executives. This position is crucial for delivering high-quality silicon products that support Google's various services and Cloud offerings. The role demands strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Must have:
  • 5+ years program management experience
  • Experience leading silicon development programs (ASIC, CPU, GPU, FPGA)
  • Lead creation of data-motivated schedules and milestones
  • Manage project execution and issues across the project lifecycle
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
Good to have:
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects

Job Details

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience leading silicon development programs, including ASIC, CPU, GPU, or FPGA technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with chip design tools, frameworks, and version control systems.
  • Experience with System on a chip (SoC) design methodologies and processes.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you will lead multi-disciplinary engineering projects using engineering knowledge. You will plan requirements with internal customers and help projects through the entire project life-cycle. You will manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes, and motivating the technical directions of programs.

The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Justify, plan, coordinate, and deliver custom silicon products, or silicon development tooling and infrastructure projects.
  • Assess problems and scope out the project, generate task lists, build a project timeline, and work with the teams.
  • Lead the creation of data-motivated schedules and milestones, track the progress, identify potential future tests, and identify mitigations with the various team leaders.
  • Motivate technical, budgetary, and schedule tradeoff discussions with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage project execution and issues as they arise through design, development, test, manufacturing, deployment, and sustaining activities for silicon and hardware products.
