Job Description

As a Test Engineer at Google's Chrome OS team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring software quality. You'll develop and execute comprehensive test plans, coordinate feature testing, and maintain the testing infrastructure, building new tools to improve efficiency. Responsibilities include collaborating with engineers, participating in design reviews, improving test coverage and cost-efficiency, and leading efforts to enhance stability testing processes. You will be writing scripts to automate testing and creating tools enabling developers to test their own code. The role involves navigating a massive codebase, identifying weaknesses, and innovating to break software and uncover problems. This position requires a strong coding background and experience in test methodologies, plan creation, test case development, and debugging.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
3+ years coding, test methodologies, test plans, test cases, debugging
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans
Enhance and maintain testing infrastructure
Collaborate with engineering team

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in CS, EE, or related field
Experience in production/system integration testing
Experience in complex, matrixed organizations

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
3 years of experience in coding, developing test methodologies, writing test plans, creating test cases, and debugging.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
3 years of experience in specialized testing such as production testing, system integration testing, etc.
1 year of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

Take ownership of software quality by developing and executing comprehensive test plans, ensuring thorough coverage and adherence to best practices. Coordinate feature testing with QA testers.
Enhance and maintain the testing infrastructure, creating new tools and processes to improve testing efficiency and team productivity.
Participate in product design reviews and share testing expertise with the engineering team to promote testability and early defect detection.
Drive ongoing improvements in test coverage, effectiveness and cost-efficiency, identifying areas for optimization and implementing solutions.
Lead efforts to improve stability testing processes, ensuring the software's reliability and performance under various conditions.
