Job Description

As a Unity Engineer (Project Based) at Amber, you'll design, develop, and optimize game features using Unity. You'll collaborate with designers, artists, and engineers to implement engaging gameplay mechanics. Responsibilities include participating in agile teams, writing clean and well-documented code, performing code reviews, prototyping new features, and working on internal tools and pipelines to improve development efficiency. You'll also mentor junior team members and collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams to align technical implementation with artistic vision and game design goals. Experience with Unity, C#, and agile methodologies is essential.
Must have:
  • 3-5 years Unity game development experience

The Quest: 

  • Game Development: Design, develop, and optimize game features using Unity. Collaborate with designers, artists, and other engineers to implement engaging gameplay mechanics and systems.
  • Collaborative Problem Solving: Participate actively in self-organizing teams, contributing to planning sessions, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings. Leverage agile methodologies to prioritize work, solve complex challenges, and continuously improve processes.
  • Code Quality and Best Practices: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Perform regular code reviews, unit testing, and debugging to ensure a high level of performance and stability.
  • Prototyping & Iteration: Rapidly prototype new features and gameplay mechanics. Iterate on feedback from team members and playtests to refine and improve user experience.
  • Tool & Pipeline Development: Work on internal tools and pipelines that improve development efficiency. Collaborate with team members to integrate and refine these processes.
  • Technical Mentorship: Share knowledge and best practices with junior team members and peers. Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to align technical implementation with artistic vision and game design goals.

The Skills: 

  • Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in Unity game development.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in C# programming and a solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration workflows.
  • Game Development Knowledge: Familiarity with the game development lifecycle, including prototyping, production, testing, and deployment. Experience in performance optimization and troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Agile Mindset: Demonstrated experience working in agile, self-organizing teams with an ability to adapt to changing requirements and iterate quickly.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail and a passion for creating engaging gameplay experiences.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Bonus Skills: Experience with VR/AR development, multiplayer systems, or shader programming.
